Over the years, the press has become an effective channel for disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations, especially regarding ethnic and religious policies and national unity.

Hong Dan District ( Bac Lieu Province) has over 14% of its population belonging to ethnic minorities, of which the Khmer ethnic group accounts for over 12.93%. Along with the general development of the province and the country, the quality of life for the people in the district is steadily improving, including the vast majority of ethnic minorities.

The impetus for the development of rural Hong Dan in general, and ethnic minority areas in particular, to the present day is partly due to the significant contribution of mass media, which has enriched the cultural and spiritual lives of the people.

Mr. Danh Cao, Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Hong Dan District, stated that mass media in general and journalism in particular have made significant contributions to socio-economic development, poverty reduction, political and ideological education, and raising awareness and vigilance against the schemes of hostile forces.

At the same time, we must preserve national identity, criticize and combat social evils, and continue to expose the conspiracies of hostile forces aiming to incite and undermine the national unity of all ethnic groups.

According to the head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Hong Dan district, the press has also actively promoted the implementation of ethnic policies, contributing to the advancement of patriotic emulation movements such as "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas" and the "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas" campaign, linked with the "All people unite to build new rural areas - civilized urban areas" campaign.

According to statistics, 100% of households in Hong Dan district have access to audio-visual equipment. FM radio broadcasting is well-covered throughout the district. In addition, all 71 hamlets have speaker systems and wireless receivers, basically meeting the needs of radio listeners.

Newspapers and magazines of various types were delivered promptly and distributed free of charge on a regular basis to eligible beneficiaries in ethnic minority areas and areas facing extreme difficulties, in accordance with Prime Minister's Decision 59, totaling 5,673 issues.

Therefore, monks and Buddhists in the five Khmer temples, along with influential figures in the ethnic minority areas, and a large number of officials, Party members, Youth Union members, association members, and people from all walks of life, have regularly accessed and grasped current events and useful information through official channels such as television, radio, and printed publications.

[caption id="attachment_603967" align="aligncenter" width="768"] The opportunities for ethnic minorities to access computers and the internet are constantly improving.

At the same time, the district also strengthened propaganda and launched the "Reading Culture" movement among officials, union members, association members, and all strata of the people; the district library coordinated with the Fatherland Front and other organizations to promote the reading culture movement, each hamlet has a corner for newspapers and reference materials, and all communes and temples have bookshelves or community cultural libraries connected to community Internet access points for officials and people to access and refer to information.

Thanks to these useful information channels, the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws, as well as local policies, have been disseminated to all segments of the population, and the cultural and spiritual needs of ethnic minorities in particular have been continuously improved.

This also fosters consensus, strengthens national unity, and makes the patriotic emulation movement of the masses "Unity and joint efforts to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" in ethnic minority areas more vibrant, practical, and effective.

Mr. Diep Cop, a farmer from Ba Ai 1 hamlet (Loc Ninh commune), happily shared that after a hard day's work, his family has a habit of sitting together to watch the provincial and national news, as well as entertainment programs on television.

"I often read news and learn about effective production models in newspapers. What impresses me most is seeing, through the information on newspapers and radio, that my hometown is developing and progressing. Everyone in my village is excited because since the launch of the new rural development program, life has changed significantly," Mr. Cop confided.
