Investing in key infrastructure

After nearly a year of operation, the utilization rate of ICT1 building, Danang Software Park No. 2 (Hai Chau ward) reached 75% with more than 30 technology enterprises and innovative startups setting up offices here. Recently, Marvell Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd. - a strategic partner of Danang city, opened an office on the 7th floor of ICT 1 building.

In the near future, the 22-storey ICT building will be put into operation, serving as the initial headquarters of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang. The city has planned to soon put into operation the ICT 2 building (8 floors), thereby expecting to attract 6,000 employees to work at Software Park No. 2.

Dr. Le Quang Dam, General Director of Marvell Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that when he returned to Vietnam 12 years ago and had the opportunity to work in Da Nang for a short time, he soon realized that the city had great development potential, especially in the semiconductor field. Up to now, Marvell's office in Da Nang has been operating stably, with a spacious infrastructure that helps businesses feel secure in investing and developing long-term. Thereby, aiming to contribute to expanding the semiconductor ecosystem, training high-quality human resources, promoting innovation, and joining hands to create the high-tech future of Da Nang.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Da Nang has the largest number of established and expanded concentrated information technology parks in the country with 3 information technology parks: Da Nang Software Park (No. 2 Quang Trung and 15 Quang Trung, Hai Chau Ward); Da Nang Concentrated Information Technology Park - Phase 1;FPT Office Complex (Ngu Hanh Son Ward).

In addition, Software Park No. 2 continues to be completed; construction of the high-tech software building of Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group will start on July 1, 2025. The city is continuing to promote investment in the Hoa Xuan Ward Creative Space project and the Da Nang Bay Information Technology Park project.

Regarding data centers, the city has promoted and started construction of two regional-scale data centers in the Da Nang High-Tech Park. Including: IDC International Data Center with a scale of 1,000 racks (network cabinets) and a capacity of 18 MW, with a total investment of nearly VND 800 billion by the International Data Center Joint Stock Company; AIDC DeCenter Data Center of the Global Telecommunications and Infrastructure Group (IPTP Networks) with a scale of 1,000 racks, a capacity of 10 MW, and a total investment of USD 200 million. Up to now, the city has 7 data centers. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2026, Viettel Group will start construction of a data center with a scale of 1,000 racks, with a total investment of VND 2,200 billion.

Seamless connection

In addition to the Hoa Hai fiber optic cable landing station, which is an important international fiber optic cable transmission node of the country, including the two existing SMW3 and APG cable lines, Viettel Group is investing in a fiber optic cable landing station at Tan Tra beach (Ngu Hanh Son ward). This is the 6th international submarine fiber optic cable line of Vietnam, connecting to many countries in the region such as East Asia with a total capacity of up to 18,000Gbps, playing a key role in the digital connection infrastructure.

In addition, in August 2025, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) launched the VSTN international land cable system - a completely land-based transmission line, more than 3,900km long, connecting Da Nang to major data centers in the ASEAN region. This is the first cable line 100% owned by Vietnamese people.

According to the latest data from the i-Speed internet platform of the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center - VNNIC (Ministry of Science and Technology), Da Nang is the leading locality in 5G network access speed from January 2025 to present. Currently, the city's urban network (MAN) has a total length of nearly 400km of underground optical cable, connecting 195 agencies and units and is continuing to be upgraded.

The city has about 300 free public wifi points in operation, about 1,000 wifi points deployed by businesses for free at airports, train stations, hospitals, medical centers... In addition, the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure has initially been formed and developed with 20 radio transmission stations using LoRa technology (low energy, wide coverage). Viettel Group has put into operation IoT infrastructure with 208 Nb-IoT stations.

Regarding energy infrastructure development, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed and submitted a draft plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII in the city; coordinated with HP Global Digital Connection Joint Stock Company to install solar power systems (100% free funding) for schools and residential areas in mountainous, remote and isolated areas, initially implementing the first phase at 3 locations in Tra Tap commune with nearly 300 households.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Tran Ngoc Thach informed that the World Bank has reported the relationship between broadband internet access speed and gross domestic product (GDP) growth: doubling broadband speed can boost GDP growth by 0.3%. Therefore, diversifying, improving the quality and stability of Vietnam's internet network in general, and Da Nang city in particular, creates an important foundation for the development of national digital infrastructure, meeting the needs of digital transformation at both central and local levels, ensuring the smooth provision of online public services when implementing the 2-level government model.

The City People's Committee issued Plan No. 80 dated September 9, 2025 on developing digital infrastructure in the city for the period 2025 - 2030; developing a technical plan for the city-wide WAN system; approving the policy of 22 infrastructure and platform projects to register for central investment capital... Thereby, ensuring the improvement of connection speed and quality, building digital infrastructure for socio-economic development.
