Officially released on June 19th, *Mesdames Thanh Sắc* marks Thanh Hằng's return to the big screen after many years of absence. Prior to its release, the film had a relatively well-planned marketing campaign, generating early attention.
However, the film's box office performance in its opening days was not very promising. By the end of its opening week, the new film had grossed 8.5 billion VND (including revenue from special screenings). On June 19th alone, despite being a weekend, the film only brought in nearly 2.2 billion VND, ranking 5th overall. The project directed by Thang Vu sold approximately 22,000 tickets across 1,234 screenings.

These are alarming numbers for a newly released Vietnamese film. Having such modest box office figures in its opening week could put the film in jeopardy, potentially leading to reduced screenings in the coming days, making it even harder to make money. This is especially concerning given the release of the superhero film Supergirl and other international releases this week, further fragmenting the theatrical market.
According to estimates, the project produced and starring Thanh Hang has a production budget of no less than 20 billion VND , not including distribution and marketing costs... This means the film needs to earn at least 50-60 billion VND to even hope to break even.
The challenge facing the Mesdames Thanh Sắc team now is to change their communication strategy to better suit the film, generating positive discussions on social media and creating natural virality – a crucial element for a theatrical release. After the first few days of screening, the film is facing quite a bit of mixed reviews, even though its quality isn't necessarily low compared to the general standard of Vietnamese films.

Returning to the box office, the leading titles remain the trio of horror films : The Walking Dead, The Fireman's Mansion , and The Haunted House.
Released at the same time, "The Zombie Swarm" and "Uncle Fire's Mansion" are neck and neck in terms of box office performance. Both are nearing the 60 billion VND mark after nearly two weeks of screening. Meanwhile, "The Ghost in the Corner" has grossed 144 billion VND after three weeks, becoming one of the highest-grossing Vietnamese horror films of 2026.
