On June 16, 1932, the Phong Hoa newspaper published its first issue under the management of Nguyen Tuong Tam (Nhat Linh). Initially a satirical newspaper, Phong Hoa quickly became an influential literary forum, attracting many famous writers such as Khai Hung, Hoang Dao, Thach Lam, Tu Mo, The Lu, and others.
From the environment of Phong Hoa , the Tu Luc literary group officially formed and became one of the most representative literary groups of modern Vietnamese literature. The newspaper was notable for its articles advocating social reform, innovative thinking, promoting reading culture, and using the Vietnamese language in a modern way.
Cartoon characters like Lý Toét, Xã Xệ, and Bang Bạnh became symbols of contemporary satirical journalism. Although it only existed until 1936, Phong Hóa is still considered an important milestone in the history of Vietnamese journalism and literature in the 20th century.
The strike by miners at Ha Tu
On June 16, 1951, workers at the Ha Tu mine (Hon Gai, Quang Ninh ) went on strike en masse to protest the exploitative policies of the French mine owners. Faced with demands for increased productivity to support the war effort, the owners forced workers to work overtime and increase labor quotas, but did not raise wages.
The struggle was fierce, demonstrating the solidarity of the working class in the mining region during the years of resistance against French colonialism.
Under pressure from the workers, the mine owner was forced to accept some demands such as increased wages and reduced workload in difficult mining areas.
The event is considered one of the typical struggles of coal miners during the resistance war, continuing the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" of Quang Ninh miners.
Inauguration of Thong Nhat Match Factory

On June 16, 2020, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province issued a decision to merge the Chang Riệc Cultural and Historical Forest into the Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park, expanding the conservation area to over 30,000 hectares.
