Barcelona are highly likely to be unable to return to Camp Nou for their match against Valencia. |
According to AS , Barcelona's management is pessimistic about whether the Camp Nou stadium will be officially licensed for matches next week. Initially, the Catalan club planned a grand opening for their new Camp Nou stadium, facing Valencia in the fourth round of La Liga.
However, with the prospect of not being able to return to Camp Nou as scheduled, Barcelona had to plan to use the Johan Cruyff Arena to face Valencia. This caused great disappointment within Barcelona, as the Johan Cruyff Arena only has a capacity of 6,000 seats, failing to even meet La Liga's minimum requirement of 8,000 seats.
However, La Liga later agreed to make an exception for Barca, as the club was facing difficulties with a venue. The Johan Cruyff Arena is currently the home ground for Barcelona's reserve team and women's team.
Barca haven't played at Camp Nou since 2023, when the famous stadium underwent a renovation costing over €1.4 billion. When completed, the new Camp Nou will have a capacity of approximately 105,000 seats – the largest in Europe.
