Banks increase USD prices along with other foreign currencies
The world USD price decreased slightly compared to other foreign currencies, the USD-Index decreased by 0.2 points, down to 101.7 points. The greenback did not fluctuate much when the US announced some positive economic information, especially the inflation index decreased.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported that inflation pressures eased while consumer spending continued to expand. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 0.2% in June, up from a 0.3% increase in May. Core inflation rose 4.1% year-over-year, a significant slowdown from the 4.6% annual increase in May. Although inflation remains well below the Federal Reserve's 2% target, the figures came in at the slowest pace in more than two years.
The optimism from today's PCE report helped the US stock market rise for the third consecutive week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 176.57 points, or 0.5%, to 35,459.29. The S&P 500 gained 0.99%, to 4,582.23. The Nasdaq Composite added 1.9%, to 14,316.66.
