| Waste collection points cause pollution, detract from urban aesthetics, and affect traffic. |
Tran Hung Dao Street in Bac Kan Ward has long been designated a model urban street. However, right at the beginning of this street, near the Cau Can area, there is a garbage collection point causing pollution.
Mr. Bui Van Dong, residing in Group 5A (Bac Kan Ward), owns a plot of land adjacent to this garbage collection point and has leased it out for business purposes. However, after only a few months, the tenants gradually returned the premises. The reason is that the garbage collection point frequently emits an unpleasant odor, especially on sunny days.
According to representatives from the Provincial Center for Agricultural Extension and Environment, the waste collection points in Duc Xuan and Bac Kan wards are arranged according to plan, ensuring convenience for residents and garbage collection vehicles. However, at some points, sanitation is not thorough or residents dispose of waste improperly, leading to accumulated waste and unsightly conditions.
Ms. Dao Thi Lan, a resident of Group 5A whose house is next to the garbage collection point on Kon Tum Street, Bac Kan Ward, said that many people from other areas bring garbage and dump it indiscriminately.
In response to this situation, Duc Xuan ward and Bac Kan ward have received feedback from residents and are considering adjusting some garbage collection points. Ms. Ta Thi Lan Anh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Xuan ward, said: "There are some points that residents have complained about many times because they cause pollution. The ward also wants to move them to another location, but there are difficulties regarding land availability."

| The pile of garbage near people's houses has not been cleaned up. |
Mr. Dang Kim Dung, Deputy Director of Bac Kan Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, said: The unit has intensified reminders to teams to clean up collection points after garbage collection, and at the same time, promoted awareness campaigns to encourage people to dispose of garbage at the right time and place.
However, according to Ms. Nong Thi Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Kan Ward, finding new locations for garbage collection points is not simple. "Land is scarce in the inner city area, making it difficult to find a place that is both far from residential areas and convenient for garbage collection. We will continue to coordinate with Duc Xuan Ward to find the optimal solution," Ms. Thanh stated.
While awaiting the optimal solution, localities are focusing on immediate measures: strengthening sanitation and deodorization at hotspots and encouraging people to raise their awareness of protecting the common environment. This is because, no matter how much effort the government and environmental agencies put in, if people do not comply with regulations, the pollution problem will remain difficult to solve completely.
