Woman arrested for scamming people out of 1 billion VND by collecting deposits for land purchases.

The Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police has served the decision to prosecute and executed the arrest warrant for temporary detention against Ngo Vu Thuy Nha Truc (49 years old), residing in Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city, for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property.

Initial investigations revealed that around the end of May 2019, Mr. Nguyen Quang T (49 years old), residing in Hai Chau 1 Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City, agreed to purchase a plot of land at alley 610, Ton Dan Street, Hoa Phat Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City, owned by Mr. Thai Van T (46 years old), residing in Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District. Because she lived in the same house as Mr. Nguyen Quang T, Ngo Vu Thuy Nha Truc was aware of this information.

The Investigation Police Department of Da Nang City Police served the decisions to Ngo Vu Thuy Nha Truc.

In early June 2019, although she had not purchased or deposited any land at alley 610 Ton Dan, Truc lied to an acquaintance, Mr. Ho Thanh T (52 years old), residing in Hoa Thuan Tay ward, Hai Chau district, about contributing capital to deposit for the aforementioned land because she needed money to pay debts and for personal expenses. Trusting the information provided by Truc, Mr. Ho Thanh T gave 1 billion VND in cash to Ngo Vu Thuy Nha Truc twice on two days (June 3rd and 4th, 2019) as capital contribution for the land purchase. After receiving the money, Truc used it to pay off debts and for personal expenses.

Upon discovering the incident, Mr. Ho Thanh T filed a complaint against Truc with the police. During the investigation, the police determined that Truc's actions constituted the crime of fraud and appropriation of property, and therefore proceeded to prosecute and temporarily detain Truc for investigation.
