Arresting Deputy Director and Registrar in Can Tho City

On the evening of May 12, the Investigative Police Department (CSDT) of Can Tho City Police said that they had just prosecuted the accused and detained Pham Minh Nhut (5 years old, living in Hung Thanh ward, Cai Rang district) and Huynh Hoang Tam (38 years old, living in Bui Huu Nghia ward, Binh Thuy district) for the act of "Receiving bribes". 

Defendant Nhut holds the position of Deputy Director of 6502D Motor Vehicle Registration Center; and defendant Tam is a registrar.

This case was launched when the Can Tho City Police Department's investigation agency expanded the investigation of the case "Receiving bribes" related to the accused Chau Ngoc Y, Director of the Center for Motor Vehicle Registration 6502D, 6504D, 6506D. 

According to the investigation, defendant Nhut and Tam knew that Chau Ngoc Y received money from vehicle owners to legalize records for renovating motor vehicles of all kinds for vehicles that do not have enough technical documents as prescribed.

Both defendants Nhut and Tam signed the minutes of acceptance of technical safety, quality and environmental protection of reconditioned motor vehicles that did not comply with the procedures and regulations, in order to have enough procedures for Chau Nhu Y to sign and issue a certificate. quality, technical safety and environmental protection of motor vehicles improperly renovated.

During the investigation, the police determined that the accused Chau Ngoc Y had illegally benefited from 1.328 vehicles, with about 700 million VND. 

Previously, the police department of the City Police Department. Can Tho has served the decision to prosecute the accused, arrest and detain Chau Ngoc Y and Nguyen Sy Hung (43 years old, from Ben Tre) to investigate the act of "Receiving bribes". 

Defendant Chau Ngoc Y is the director of 3 motor vehicle registration centers No. 65.02D, 65.04D and 65.06D (belonging to Cat Tuong An Khanh Technical Joint Stock Company). Defendant Nguyen Sy Hung works in a private car repair business Phu Hung in Ben Tre province.

Thus, up to now, the Can Tho City Police Department has prosecuted 1 director, 1 deputy director, 1 registrar and 1 business owner for taking bribes.
