Specifically, only from the beginning of March until now, the hospital has received 3 cases of children with encephalitis, of which 3 cases are currently undergoing intensive resuscitation treatment.
Accordingly, it was noted that at the Pediatric Intensive Care and Poison Control Department (Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital), the medical team and doctors here always have to work hard to take care of pediatric encephalitis patients. In the department, there are still 5 cases with severe symptoms that need to be actively monitored and treated.

Ly Quoc Trung, Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, said: Recent cases of children hospitalized have symptoms such as: dizziness, headache, vomiting after eating, not improving for many days, muscle pain, high fever... Through examination and tests, doctors diagnosed the above cases with encephalitis, with a severe prognosis and high risk of death, and the treatment process is very complicated.
Specifically, baby HNA (8 years old, residing in Soc Trang province), 3 days before being admitted to the hospital, had a headache, dizziness, vomiting after eating, and he was lethargic. When admitted to the emergency hospital for treatment, doctors diagnosed the baby with encephalitis, respiratory failure, pneumonia, a severe prognosis, requiring special care and a ventilator.
Or like the case of baby TTT (10 years old, residing in Soc Trang province) hospitalized with symptoms of continuous high fever, muscle pain, nausea, numbness in the arms and legs, difficulty breathing, and urinary incontinence. Doctors diagnosed the baby with encephalomyelitis accompanied by pneumonia. The prognosis was severe and required continuous monitoring of vital signs and special care.
A report from Can Tho City Children's Hospital said that from February 2 until now, the hospital has received 2024 cases of children with encephalitis admitted to the hospital for treatment. Of these, from the beginning of March until now, there have been 20 children hospitalized, an increase of 3% over the same period.
