Unexpected landing spot for Jack Grealish

Newcastle plans to "rescue" Jack Grealish from his dark time at Man City on loan.

ZNewsZNews08/06/2025

Grealish could move to Newcastle this summer.

The north-east club are keen on Grealish as the former Aston Villa star is no longer in Pep Guardiola's plans at the Etihad. The £100m player was even left out of Man City's 2025 FIFA Club World Cup squad, a sign that he is out of the running under Pep.

Manager Eddie Howe is ready to push through with the deal if Man City agree to let Grealish leave on loan. Newcastle will have even more reason to act if a team makes an offer for Anthony Gordon this summer.

However, Man City may be forced to "partially finance" this deal by paying Grealish's wages to find a new destination. The Etihad team is willing to lose 60 million pounds, nearly two-thirds of the record investment for Grealish, to release him from the squad.

In the 2024/25 season, Grealish only scored 1 goal and had 1 assist in the Premier League. He was eliminated from Pep's long-term plan and has no way back. Before Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne also experienced the situation of being excluded from Pep's first team, while Kyle Walker and John Stones are likely to leave Etihad soon.

Meanwhile, Man City are working hard to renew their squad. They have successfully recruited Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for £46.2 million, are preparing to complete the deal for Rayan Cherki from Lyon for £30 million and are about to close another deal for Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolves for £34 million.
