On December 2nd, Tu Du Hospital's second facility officially launched its multi-specialty model in Can Gio commune after a period of preparation, infrastructure completion, and three weeks of trial operation.
Attending the ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
Many people from Can Gio district came to Tu Du Hospital's second facility for examination and treatment. The examination area was also equipped with a piano playing soothing melodies, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere for patients.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Director of Tu Du Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), emphasized that the hospital's success is due to the combination of three key factors: favorable circumstances (support from government at all levels), advantageous location (the strategic position and development potential of Can Gio), and harmonious human factors (the unity of leaders, departments, agencies, 9 hospitals, and local people).
With decisive direction from the Department of Health, the hospital was implemented at a "lightning speed," completing the legal framework and putting it into operation in a short period of time.
After three weeks of operation, the hospital has achieved encouraging results: patient traffic has increased by 150% to 400%, and notably, the number of patients requiring emergency transfers has sharply decreased from 40 cases to just 3 cases.
"The project has a dual mission: to ensure on-site healthcare for the people of Can Gio, and to serve the workforce constructing key projects in the area, contributing to overall development," Mr. Hai said.
In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his pride in the efforts of the health sector in overcoming many challenges to meet the development requirements of the city.
He suggested that Tu Du Hospital, as the "pillar" unit, should strengthen coordination with eight other specialized hospitals to promote training and address difficulties at the grassroots level.
Responding to the directive, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Tang Chi Thuong, stated that this is a completely new model, located far from the city center, but it has been implemented and perfected in less than a year without using any of the city's budget.
"The idea of opening a second branch of Tu Du Hospital in Can Gio was conceived and discussed about a year ago. After about a year, this project has been completed," Mr. Thuong said, expressing his belief that the hospital's establishment will help people receive examinations, treatment, emergency care, surgery, and childbirth right in their local area, by a team of doctors and medical staff from leading hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.
