On December 2, Tu Du Hospital, branch 2, officially launched its operations under the multidisciplinary model in Can Gio commune after preparation, completion of infrastructure and three weeks of trial operation.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
Many people from Can Gio district came to Tu Du Hospital, branch 2, for examination and treatment. The examination area was also equipped with a piano with melodious tunes, creating a gentle and comfortable space for patients.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai - Director of Tu Du Hospital (HCMC) - emphasized the hospital's success thanks to the combination of three key factors: favorable weather (supportive policies from authorities at all levels), favorable location (strategic position and development potential of Can Gio), and harmony (unanimity of leaders, departments, 9 hospitals and local people).
With strong direction from the Department of Health, the hospital was deployed at "lightning speed", completing the legal corridor and putting into operation in a short time.
After three weeks of operation, the hospital has achieved encouraging results: patient flow has increased from 150% to 400%, and in particular, the number of patients requiring emergency transfers has decreased sharply from 40 cases to only 3 cases.
"The project has a dual mission of both ensuring on-site health care for Can Gio residents and serving the workforce building key projects in the area, contributing to overall development," said Mr. Hai.
In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - expressed his pride in the efforts of the health sector in overcoming many challenges to meet the city's development requirements.
He suggested that Tu Du Hospital, as a "pillar" unit, should strengthen coordination with eight other specialized hospitals to promote training and solve difficulties right at the grassroots level.
Receiving the direction, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong said that this is a completely new model, located far from the city center, but has been deployed and completed in less than a year without using any of the city's budget sources.
"The idea of opening a second branch of Tu Du Hospital in Can Gio was thought of and discussed about a year ago. After about a year, this product was completed," Mr. Thuong said, believing that the hospital's establishment would help people get examined, treated, given emergency care, operated on, and given birth right in the locality, by a team of doctors and nurses from the city's leading hospitals.
