Xavi admitted that the standards in the Barcelona dressing room had dropped, the players had lost the right attitude, respect and effort, leading to the team not winning any titles in the last season. He called this a big lesson, self-criticism to become more mature.

Xavi took charge in late 2021 with the task of restoring order to a Barcelona side struggling financially and in form. His impact was immediately evident, with Barcelona regaining the La Liga title and winning the Spanish Super Cup in their second season.

However, the positive signs soon faded. The 2023/24 season saw Barcelona slide in competitions, confidence plummet, and conflicts over tactics and intensity emerged. Tensions between the coaching staff and the players became more apparent, and at the end of the season, Xavi was sacked.
