Bu Gia Map District was established and began operating on November 1, 2009, comprising 18 communes. In August 2015, Bu Gia Map was divided to form Phu Rieng District. Since then, Bu Gia Map District has 8 communes, with a population of 85,000 people, of which more than 36% are ethnic minorities. After 15 years of establishment, the district has overcome difficulties and achieved many accomplishments in socio-economic development.
15 years of innovation and development
In 2009, Bu Gia Map was one of the most disadvantaged districts. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, as well as industry and services, were underdeveloped; technical infrastructure was poor, and the overall infrastructure was limited. The lives of the people in the district were very difficult, with an average per capita income of only 14.58 million VND per year. The staff was both insufficient and lacking in competence, not up to the task. The level of education was low, and the poverty rate was high… These were obstacles directly affecting the district's development.
After 15 years since its establishment, overcoming difficulties, the district has made positive progress, with a stable socio-economic situation, a relatively high economic growth rate, relatively developed production and business, and continuously increasing state budget revenue in the area every year. Budget revenue in 2024 is estimated at 206 billion VND, with an average annual increase of 8%.
Over the years, the economic structure has shifted towards increasing the proportion of industry and services and decreasing the proportion of agriculture to meet the socio-economic development needs of the locality. Investment in basic infrastructure has been boosted, contributing to changing the face of the border district.
Furthermore, social security is ensured, especially in remote areas and areas inhabited by ethnic minorities. Policies supporting the poor and low-income earners have yielded clear results, with the poverty rate decreasing from 8.26% (in 2009) to 2.03% (at the beginning of 2024). Efforts to create jobs for workers have been intensified, with the number of jobs created steadily increasing. To date, jobs have been created for 46,508 out of 38,314 workers (reaching 121.38%); the rate of trained workers is 9,257 out of 7,147 (reaching 129.5%).
The total investment for new rural development is 1,850 billion VND. To date, the district has 6 out of 8 communes meeting the new rural development standards and 2 out of 8 communes meeting the advanced new rural development standards. The transportation network basically meets the needs of people for travel and goods transportation. Infrastructure and schools have been invested in comprehensively and solidly from the district to the commune level, with 13 out of 33 schools meeting national standards, reaching 40%...
Healthcare is a priority, and the healthcare network from the district to the commune level continues to be strengthened and improved, effectively meeting the healthcare needs of the people. Of particular note is the construction of a 50-bed district general hospital and commune health stations according to national standards, coupled with training, professional development, and improvement of the skills and medical ethics of doctors and medical staff, ensuring comprehensive healthcare for the people.
The imprint of the people's will in this resolution.
During the 2020-2025 term, the District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 02-NQ/HU on focusing all resources on investing in the development of rural transportation systems and Resolution No. 03-NQ/HU on promoting the development of clean agriculture and strengthening the application of science and technology in agricultural production. After more than half of the term, with the efforts and dedication of the entire political system, Resolutions No. 02 and 03 have achieved positive results and have received the consensus and support of the people.
In particular, Resolution No. 02 on leveraging all resources and focusing investment on developing the rural transportation system is one of the three breakthrough programs outlined in the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress of Bu Gia Map District, term 2020-2025. The district has promoted the movement to build rural roads throughout 8 communes and 68 villages. To date, the district's transportation system is increasingly complete and is being gradually upgraded and expanded, effectively serving socio-economic development, goods circulation, and people's travel.
With the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Development," the Party Committee, government, and people of Bu Gia Map district are determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 12th District Party Congress and the resolutions of higher-level Party committees.
