BlizzCon, an annual event held since 2005, has just been confirmed to cancel its 2024 schedule. Blizzard often shares announcements and information surrounding its products at each of these events.
On the official website, Blizzard announced the cancellation of BlizzCon "after careful consideration", but did not state any additional reasons.
“We have decided not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not easy because this is a very special event for all of us, and Blizzard understands that many people are looking forward to the event. taking place," the official information stated. The company also promised that it is "still excited" to bring this event back in the coming years.
Without BlizzCon, Blizzard still affirms that it will continue to be active with other activities in 2024, and announced that in the next few months there will be World of Warcraft: The War Within and the first expansion of Diablo. 4, Vessel of Hatred.
Alongside that is a tease of “exciting plans” for Gamescom and other industry trade shows, and the promise of multiple global-scale live events around the world to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft.
This is not the first time BlizzCon has been canceled, in fact, in the past 5 years, it has only taken place once as usual. In May 5.2020, the Covid-19 outbreak caused many concerns, causing the company to cancel the event. By February 2.2021, BlizzConline - an online version of this event appeared, but by the end of the year, the annual BlizzCon was canceled.
In 2022, the program once again did not take place because the company was caught up in a discrimination scandal against female employees. It won't be until 2023 that BlizzCon will return as planned.
