The use of AI-generated imagery to impersonate celebrities is becoming increasingly widespread, affecting influential figures and their fans. Beyond artists in the entertainment industry, this problem has spread to many other fields. Recently, commentator Anh Quân, one of the most popular and influential social media personalities in Vietnam, had to appeal for help online after being impersonated by fraudsters using artificial intelligence.

"Don't believe it, it's a scam. I've received many messages about people impersonating me, both my face and voice, using AI. I always uphold the law and would never promote illegal activities. I hope everyone who sees this will report it or simply scroll past because it's definitely not me," Anh Quân wrote on his official Facebook page, which has over 1.3 million followers.

Attached to the post, the commentator uploaded photos of fake videos that falsely linked him to advertisements for football betting, leading to illegal gambling websites.

As a public figure who produces a massive amount of video, the AI-generated fake videos of commentator Anh Quân have a high degree of authenticity. With this type of production, the more massive and detailed the input data, the more realistic and difficult to distinguish the resulting fake from the real thing.

Facial and voice spoofing tools are now publicly available and easy to use. Unlike deepfake solutions from previous years, which required massive processing resources and complex algorithms, modern AI software is much more common and cheaper.

Prior to commentator Anh Quân, a series of famous artists such as Đức Phúc, Cát Tường, Đàm Thu Trang, Mỹ Tâm, Hồ Ngọc Hà, and TV presenter Hoài Anh… simultaneously spoke out to warn about AI impersonating their images and voices in fraudulent advertising clips. This problem, despite existing for many years, still lacks a complete solution, trapping both artists and viewers in a vicious cycle of harmful information.
