Information from the victim's family indicates that the person trapped and killed in the collapse of building 2386 (in Bala Tidi area, Zabu Thiri district, Naypyidaw) was 74-year-old U Maung Tin. Four families lived in that building.

When the earthquake struck, the elderly couple and their young grandchild were inside the house; their children were all at work. The child was also trapped inside and was later rescued having lost a leg.

"I thought it would be impossible to get my father out, but you all did it. I'm so moved I don't know what to say. Thank you so much," said a family member of the victim.

Also on April 1st, the Vietnam People's Army's rescue team promptly delivered food to the people of Myanmar who lost their homes due to the earthquake. These gifts and timely words of encouragement from the rescue forces helped the victims' families alleviate their grief and loss.

Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Rescue and Relief Department and commander of the Vietnam People's Army delegation participating in earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar, said that rescue work faced many difficulties because when using concrete breaking and drilling equipment, structures easily collapse, posing a danger to rescue forces.
