On March 20th, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a document responding to several provinces and cities regarding the timing of the 2025 High School Graduation Examination.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry has received official letters from provincial Departments of Education and Training regarding the consideration of adjusting the schedule for the 2025 High School Graduation Examination. The provinces and cities proposing this adjustment are Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, and Quang Tri.
The Ministry of Education and Training has the following opinion: "The Ministry acknowledges and highly appreciates the proactive approach of the Departments of Education and Training in proposing adjustments to the high school graduation exam schedule to meet the practical needs of localities and other actual situations."

After considering various factors, the Ministry of Education and Training has decided to maintain the 2025 high school graduation exam schedule as announced in the 2024-2025 academic year plan (according to Decision No. 2045/QD-BGDDT dated August 1, 2024). Maintaining the announced exam schedule helps to stabilize the psychology of students and parents and does not affect other activities in the education sector.
The Ministry of Education and Training requests that the Departments of Education and Training closely coordinate with relevant units to implement the 2024-2025 school year plan and organize the 2025 High School Graduation Examination according to the plan, ensuring safety, seriousness, and compliance with regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training's provisional schedule for the 2025 high school graduation exam is June 26-27. However, recently, some localities have proposed moving the exam date forward by three weeks.
Specifically, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training requesting that the Ministry adjust the exam schedule to an earlier date than the previously announced draft. This is also a recommendation from Ho Chi Minh City.
In a document sent to the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, stated that, in the context of the nationwide restructuring and merger of provinces and cities, the completion of district-level tasks, and the implementation of research and proposals for further restructuring of the political system's organizational apparatus, adjusting the high school graduation exam schedule to an earlier date aims to ensure the rights of students and stabilize the psychology of parents and students.
At the same time, it facilitates the preparation of localities to organize the high school graduation exam safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. Mr. Hieu also requested the Ministry of Education and Training to promptly issue a directive, organizational plan, and exam schedule for the high school graduation exam.
Nghe An and Ninh Binh provinces also hope that the 2025 high school graduation exam will be moved up by about 3 weeks compared to the original schedule.
