TP - Mr. Nguyen Son Hai, Director of the Department of Information Technology (Ministry of Education and Training), said that theeducation sector has basically completed the construction of databases from preschool education, general education, continuing education to higher education. The sector has basically digitized information to serve management work at all levels of education. The sector's data has been connected to the national database on population and insurance to exploit specialized data for management.
For university education, enrollment in recent years has been completely online. Up to now, training institutions have digitized their enrollment plans with evidence of enrollment plans. Based on the data, the Ministry has deployed many applications and in the future will continue to deploy many other related applications to carry out digital transformation.
According to Mr. Hai, the general admission support system is quite complete for candidates. Candidates pay fees online and provide necessary data when applying for university admission. Every year, more than 700,000 candidates participate in university admission with 3.5 million registration wishes that are fully automated by the system.
Mr. Hai informed that one of the tasks that the Ministry of Education and Training is preparing to implement in the coming time is digital diplomas. The Ministry of Education and Training will implement digital diplomas from high school graduation certificates, graduation certificates of university and post-university training methods will be digitized and paper diplomas will still exist.
“The diploma is the output but will be linked to data related to the input and training process. This is an important step to improve the management of the training chain from input to output, limiting problems with fake diplomas and negative aspects of diplomas. When diplomas are digitized, there will be no more fake diplomas,” said Mr. Hai.
Another policy that is also about to be implemented and has many impacts is digital transcripts. According to Mr. Hai, since 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training has piloted digital transcripts, and is expected to officially implement them by 2025. Currently, universities still use half digital and half paper transcripts when considering admissions.
The initial data for schools to consider is digital data, but when candidates are admitted, they must bring paper transcripts for confirmation. In the future, paper transcripts will no longer be used, but will be completely replaced by digital transcripts, which have legal value in all situations of use.
