Mr. Tran Thanh Giang's art class is located in a small alley on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, Rach Gia Ward. The classroom is neat and tidy, highlighted by the students' paintings neatly displayed on the walls. Inside, more than 10 students diligently paint and refine their colorful artworks with skillful hands. Truong Ung Thanh (a 8th-grade student at Hung Vuong Secondary School, Rach Gia Ward) has been attending art classes since the summer of 5th grade; now, he is quite proficient in the skills. "Every time I finish a piece, I'm happy because I get to fulfill my passion. I practice every day to paint better," Thanh confided.
Mr. Giang is an art teacher at Son Kien 1 Primary School in Son Kien commune. He is also a member of the Fine Arts Branch of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, with many of his works exhibited and winning awards in painting competitions. Currently, Mr. Giang runs seven drawing classes, from basic to advanced levels, using both paper and iPads, attracting approximately 70 students. “Learning to draw provides children with healthy entertainment, develops their aesthetic sense, and fosters positive thinking. Many students are passionate about drawing and excel,” Mr. Giang shared.
Mr. Tran Van Huu's music class (Northwest Urban Area, Rach Gia Ward) offers lessons in guitar, piano, organ, flute, etc. Each class has about 8 students. In the classroom, students sit neatly, their small fingers gliding across the keys, creating melodious sounds that make Mr. Huu's class more lively. Mr. Huu shared: "Music brings many benefits to the holistic development of children, helping to improve language skills, enhance mathematical skills, develop social skills, and promote creativity and imagination… After stressful study hours, the children can accompany themselves with a gentle piece of music to relax their minds and soothe their souls."
With the goal of providing a safe, healthy, and enriching summer for children, Ischool Rach Gia Multi-Level School organizes summer education programs for preschool and primary school students. This year, these two programs attracted approximately 80 participants, including students from the school and children in Rach Gia ward. The principal of Ischool Rach Gia Multi-Level School, Nguyen Thi Kim Anh, said: “For the preschool summer program, the school focuses on caring for, nurturing, and developing skills; for the primary school program, students spend about 20% of their time reviewing knowledge and 80% learning talents in subjects like chess, swimming, football, aerobics… The school organizes thematic teaching, project-based learning, and club activities.” Children also get to go on field trips, excursions, and travel, creating enthusiasm for learning and developing skills for students.” Lam Phuc Nguyen, a resident of Rach Gia ward and a familiar participant in the summer program at Ischool Rach Gia for many years, said: “I like studying at school during the summer because, in addition to reviewing knowledge, I also get to learn many extracurricular subjects and participate in fun activities with my friends.”

The Kien Giang Children's House has been a trusted talent training center for children for decades. This year, the center is offering classes in nearly 20 different talents, including painting, calligraphy, rhythmic gymnastics, modern dance, child modeling, guitar, organ, Taekwondo, Katedo, and Vovinam. Classes are held on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and Tuesday to Sunday evenings, attracting nearly 500 students per week. Besides ensuring high-quality teaching, the center also provides opportunities for students to perform regularly in front of the public and organizes numerous competitions in painting, chess, and swimming, giving children a chance to compete with other provinces.
In the talent classes, students are very enthusiastic about learning. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Tuong (mother of Truong Ung Thanh), summer is the best time for children to develop their talents and pursue their passions. If they are allowed to learn what they want, they enjoy it rather than feel pressured.
Extracurricular classes flourish during the summer but then slow down when the new school year begins, due to students lacking time. According to teachers of these classes, for effective learning, parents need to be attentive and remind their children to dedicate time to regular practice and skill development. If students are unable to attend classes, teachers are ready to support them in developing their talents and pursuing their passions.
