Bruno Fernandes surpasses Scholes. |
On November 30, the Portuguese captain assisted Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount to score, helping the "Red Devils" come back and rise to sixth place in the Premier League rankings.
With this achievement, Fernandes not only leads the assist race in the Premier League this season (5 times), but also sets an important milestone for himself at Old Trafford. Since joining MU in January 2020, Fernandes has 56 assists in the Premier League, officially surpassing the legendary Paul Scholes (55 times).
The Portuguese international is currently in the top 4 best passers in MU history. The names above him include David Beckham (88 assists) and Wayne Rooney (93). Leading the list is the legendary Ryan Giggs with 162 assists during his two decades with the “Red Devils”.
Fernandes’ consistent form and great influence continue to make him a mainstay in coach Ruben Amorim’s playing style. Despite having to play in his preferred left central midfield position, the Portuguese international still knows how to make his mark with important assists.
If he maintains his current impressive performance, Fernandes will soon close the gap with Beckham and get closer to the group of greatest assist makers in MU history.
