On the morning of January 14th, the Vinh Hung Ward Health Station (Hanoi) officially donned a "new look," becoming the first place to pilot a model of collaboration between higher-level hospitals and grassroots healthcare facilities. This collaboration between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and the Vinh Hung Ward Health Station is the first step in concretizing Resolution 72 of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health, and the Hanoi City government's directive to bring high-quality medical services closer to the people.
This is also a very important direction mentioned in the draft document submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Instead of the usual quiet scene at Vinh Hung Health Station over the years, today, from early morning, many local residents came to register for examinations after hearing that the facility was implementing a collaborative model with Hanoi Medical University Hospital, with the presence of many excellent medical experts from the central level.

Over 300 patients, all residents of Vinh Hung ward, received free medical examinations with the support of leading experts from Hanoi Medical University Hospital and a system of modern medical equipment, the first of its kind to be installed at the ward's health station.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu introduced the modern equipment system at Vinh Hung Polyclinic - Hanoi Medical University Hospital to Hanoi leaders. He said this model is different from previous deployments when the hospital provided medical support to district-level healthcare facilities in some localities.
This time, instead of sending doctors to local health facilities to provide medical services in batches, the hospital established a clinic right at the health station. Patients will be directed to a specific area; if a patient is found to have a complex condition requiring specialist care, professors and doctors from Hanoi Medical University Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, will be available right there. Therefore, people no longer need to go to the hospital and wait in line, but can still receive high-quality medical services in their local area.

The affiliated clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, including the most advanced CT scanners and endoscopes in Vietnam, as well as an ultrasound system being used for the first time in the country... In the photo, doctors and specialists are operating the remote ultrasound system. With this system, doctors can sit in the hospital to control the ultrasound machine and read the results.

As the person directly in charge of guiding and promoting the cooperation between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Vinh Hung Ward Health Station in less than two weeks, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung has high expectations for this collaborative model. He believes that if every locality showed the same determination as Vinh Hung Ward, Hanoi would develop significantly.
Recognizing that this model demonstrates the superiority of a two-tiered local government system, serving the people in the most practical way, city leaders affirmed their determination to replicate and spread the model throughout Hanoi.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu pledged to work with Hanoi's leaders to create a model for replication; to review health stations located far from the city center and operating inefficiently in order to provide support and help people benefit from medical examination, treatment, and healthcare.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Lan Hieu, the most important significance of implementing this new model is that people can access high-tech healthcare services and skilled medical professionals right in their own neighborhoods, instead of having to go to central hospitals and wait in line for examinations.

This pilot program, which links higher-level hospitals with grassroots health centers, aims to improve the quality of healthcare for the people and marks an important milestone in strengthening professional collaboration and enhancing the effectiveness of grassroots healthcare.

The Vinh Hung Polyclinic - Hanoi Medical University Hospital is scientifically planned with a self-contained system of examination rooms, laboratories, and functional areas, ensuring a convenient examination process.

Clinical and paraclinical specialties are also well-organized, meeting the initial and advanced medical examination and treatment needs of the people. Key specialties at the Clinic include: internal medicine and surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ENT, dentistry, ophthalmology, dermatology, musculoskeletal disorders, etc., along with paraclinical services such as diagnostic imaging, functional testing, etc.

Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, emphasized that for commune and ward health stations to truly become places where people trust and choose to go for examinations, in addition to investing in facilities and equipment, the presence of specialist doctors is essential.

Hanoi was the first locality to request the Hanoi Medical University Hospital to provide support in revitalizing commune and ward health stations, especially those that had received investment in facilities but were not operating effectively.

Hanoi leaders, along with representatives from various departments, agencies, and localities, as well as leaders from Hanoi Medical University and Hanoi Medical University Hospital, posed for a commemorative photo at the ceremony announcing the cooperation between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Vinh Hung Ward Health Station.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, the cooperation model between Hanoi Medical University Hospital and Vinh Hung Ward Health Station has two important meanings.
Firstly, the ward health station will be strengthened because it will receive support from Hanoi Medical University Hospital in performing its functions and tasks related to vaccination, chronic disease management, health communication, and training of ward health workers…
Secondly, when patients discover complex medical conditions and require specialist consultation, professors and doctors from Hanoi Medical University Hospital, along with state-of-the-art equipment, are readily available here. People don't need to go to the hospital and wait in line; they can still receive high-quality medical services locally.

With the investment in modern medical facilities and equipment, along with a team of highly qualified and reputable doctors from Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu hopes that a health station that has been operating inefficiently in recent years, such as the Vinh Hung Ward Health Station, will be "revived".
