For me, enjoying a cup of coffee, watching the scenery and observing life in the place I visit, has helped me understand more about that land.
The author and friends drinking coffee
Coffee shops in Hanoi are often luxurious and have a nostalgic style. Once I visited the capital and was invited by writer Uong Trieu to drink coffee in a shop with a rather small space but extremely sophisticated decoration.
The writer told me: this shop used to be a bookstore, but with the times, it has become a coffee shop. I ordered a cup of black iced coffee, a girl brought me a cup of filter coffee. The drops of coffee fell slowly as if to please literature lovers. Taking a sip of coffee, I found the coffee taste a bit bitter on the tip of my lips, but sweet in my throat.
I often drink coffee and watch the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. Here, coffee is present as much as if it were an indispensable beverage.
Coffee is diverse from iced coffee, black coffee, iced milk coffee, warehouse coffee... In small alleys, in luxury shopping malls, bus stations, hospital gates... coffee is everywhere. Through a cup of coffee, I feel: here, whoever wants to be fast can be fast, whoever wants to be leisurely and carefree can be leisurely. This city is tolerant enough to accommodate everyone who comes here.
Coffee in Vung Tau, a dynamic, modern coastal city, keeps up with the trends of young people. A cup of machine-brewed coffee is brought out very quickly. The sour taste of pure coffee is difficult to describe. But here, there are still shops with a classic style that please customers who like to live slowly with a cup of bitter black coffee, long-lasting aroma, smoothness that sticks to the cup and enjoy the scent of the sea.
Wherever I go, I order and enjoy a cup of coffee there, to understand and love the land more.
