Audiences immediately remember the song "Bài ca không quên" (The Unforgettable Song) sung by singer Cẩm Vân.
In 1983, with this song, singer Cam Van won the gold medal for solo performance at the Ho Chi Minh City Professional Music Festival.
As if by fate
In musical programs commemorating significant historical events of the country, singer Cam Van is always asked to sing songs such as "The Unforgettable Song," "The Homeland," and "City of Love and Nostalgia" by composer Pham Minh Tuan. "I have been singing 'The Unforgettable Song' for nearly 50 years. It's a song that has left a strong mark on my career," singer Cam Van confided.
Singer Cam Van shared that she and composer Pham Minh Tuan have many beautiful memories, most recently when they went to the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper to receive gifts from the "Mai Vang Tri An" program in 2024. There, she, along with composer Pham Minh Tuan and singer Thanh Thuy, spontaneously sang the song "City of Love and Nostalgia." This unforgettable moment has been captured on social media platforms.

In 1980, when composer Pham Minh Tuan wrote the song for the film of the same name, singer Cam Van had just started her career. Besides Cam Van, many other famous singers auditioned for the song, but she was the only one chosen. After the film was released, Cam Van's rendition of "The Unforgettable Song" became a huge hit in the music scene of Ho Chi Minh City.
Besides revolutionary songs, singer Cam Van is also famous for Trinh Cong Son's music, performing songs such as "Legend of the Mother" and "Where Do the Waves Go?". In 1986, she competed in an international solo singing competition in Dresden, Germany, and won a special prize with the song "Why Did You Die?" (by Thanh Truc). In 1988, she won a gold medal in the light music category at the National Professional Solo Singing Competition. In 1995-1996, she was voted the Mai Vang Award by readers of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper. From 1997 to 2007, many of her songs entered the Green Wave music charts.
Accompanying your child
Recently, singer Cam Van and her husband, artist Khac Trieu, have had another reason to rejoice as their daughter has followed in her parents' footsteps.
Cece Truong (real name Truong Hoang Van Khanh), the daughter of artists Cam Van and Khac Trieu, graduated from the University of Economics at ERC Institute. However, due to her passion for singing, Cece Truong decided to pursue a professional singing career like her parents. Perhaps inheriting musical genes from her parents, Cam Van and Khac Trieu's beloved daughter has a great love for music. Cece Truong recently marked her first milestone in her music career with the release of her music video "A Little Bit of Distraction" - the first Vietnamese song composed and performed by Cece Truong herself.

The music video "A Little Bit of Distraction" tells the story of a girl confessing her feelings to the person she likes. It's an R&B track with a youthful style. Cece Truong wrote the song based on her own feelings when she was smitten with someone and proactively expressed her affection. The music video, with its vibrant color palette, has received a warm reception from the public.
"Having grown up in the amateur arts movement and then participating in professional performances, for the past few decades, Cam Van has maintained her deep affection for her audience. She is a role model of persistent hard work for today's young singers to learn from," commented musician Pham Minh Tuan.
"My wife and I have always guided our child to develop naturally. She receives advice on vocal techniques, shares her artistic aesthetic perspective, and learns how to choose songs to perform," singer Khac Trieu shared.
Not only has her daughter Ceca Truong released new music, but her mother Cam Van has also just released the album "Vet Lan Tram" (The Deeply Etched Scar), published on vinyl. Although the album "Vet Lan Tram" is absent from online platforms, it has still been well-received by audiences. Notably, this album features performances by Ceca Truong and singer Khac Trieu. This is also a great joy for a family that sings love songs. Another highlight of the album is the collaboration between Cam Van and her daughter on two songs, "Ca Dao Me" (Mother's Folk Song) and "Vet Lan Tram".
"I thank my husband, Khac Trieu, who has always been by my side, helping my dreams come true. Thank you to my two daughters, Trieu Man and Cece Truong, for always encouraging me," singer Cam Van expressed. Meanwhile, Cece Truong shared: "My parents are my idols and a solid foundation for me to follow, allowing me to confidently walk the musical path I have chosen."
On the evening of April 20th, singer Cam Van will perform at the special music program "The Nation's Complete Joy," celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), at the Reunification Hall. This April, her schedule is packed with performances, featuring songs that have become synonymous with her name: "The Nation," "Starry Night in the City," "City of Love and Nostalgia," "The Unforgettable Song," and more.
