According to close sources, the late artist had a history of serious cardiovascular disease. In August 2022, Huang Dawei was hospitalized in critical condition due to acute heart failure leading to shortness of breath. At that time, his long-time girlfriend and manager, Vicky, confirmed that the heart failure complications had severely affected his kidney function, causing the singer's body to become severely edematous. Although cardiac catheterization results showed no blood vessel blockages, his health had deteriorated significantly since then.
