The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has been pursuing coach Ancelotti for more than a year. On May 2, ESPN reported that the CBF had set a deadline for the Italian strategist to decide on his future. The main reason is that Real Madrid does not want to part with Ancelotti early, while the CBF wants to announce Ancelotti in May.

Ancelotti is the number one candidate and is targeted by CBF to prepare for the 2026 World Cup campaign. However, Cafu does not agree with this move.

Sharing on ESPN , the legend said: "I would choose Rogerio Ceni or Renato Gaucho for the short term. Once the 2026 World Cup is over, they (CBF) can make a decision. The federation needs to choose a coach to start this job immediately, so that the reception and implementation of the goals happen naturally."

According to Cafu, the CBF is in too much of a hurry and could pay the price if they appoint Ancelotti too soon. The Brazilian legend believes that Ancelotti's arrival at this time will leave him with very little time to familiarize himself with the squad and prepare for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

Cafu is a former student of Ancelotti at AC Milan. The two have a close relationship.

Cafu's views are controversial. Some agree with the former defender that Brazil need a coach who can build a long-term plan and not be a stop-gap solution. Others believe that Ancelotti is a world- class coach who can bring immediate success to Brazil.

Jorge Jesus (just left Al Hilal) and Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras) are other options of CBF for the position of head coach of the national team.
