Commitment through concrete actions

The sea is the production space for fishermen and the livelihood of coastal residents. Protecting the marine environment is committed to through concrete actions from fishermen, local authorities, and provincial leaders.

Báo Đắk LắkBáo Đắk Lắk05/10/2025

* Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van:

To combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the province is implementing sustainable fishing models and strictly controlling inshore and offshore fishing vessels. Border guards and local authorities are directed to strengthen patrols, inspections, and strictly handle violations, assigning responsibility to heads of units in combating IUU fishing.

Alongside control measures, the province encourages models of exploitation and aquaculture linked to conservation, while supporting fishermen with policies and scientific and technical assistance, creating conditions for them to confidently continue their work at sea. Businesses are encouraged to invest in and develop marine tourism in a green direction. When all parties work together, the sea will not only be green today but also for many generations to come.

To ensure a clean sea, abundant marine resources, and sustainable marine economic development, a coordinated effort from both management agencies and the people is needed. The province recognizes that this is not only a task for the State but also a responsibility of the entire community and every fisherman.

* Secretary of the Party Committee of Song Cau Ward, Nguyen Cong Hoan:

Song Cau Ward is focusing its resources on effectively implementing the overall plan for the development of the aquaculture industry in the province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030. Currently, the locality has completed the counting of the number of aquaculture cages, rafts, and fishing vessels. The ward has also established the Song Cau Lobster and Seafood Service Cooperative and 79 community-based aquaculture management groups...; moving towards reorganizing aquaculture cages and rafts in the area according to the plan. The locality strives to reduce the number of lobster and marine fish cages to 43,000 by 2030, covering an area of 700 hectares.

Simultaneously, promote public awareness and encourage people to participate in waste collection services (household waste and marine waste) to enhance the understanding and consciousness of each individual in environmental protection. Effectively implement the collection and treatment of aquaculture waste. Strive to achieve a 95% collection rate of household solid waste by 2030; develop waste collection models in aquaculture areas...

*Fisherman Pham Thien in Tuy An Dong commune:

I've developed a habit of not carelessly throwing empty water bottles or torn fishing nets into the sea after each trip, but instead gathering them in one place on the boat to take to a designated waste collection point on shore when we return. During fishing trips, if I see trash floating in the sea, I also pick it up and bring it back to shore. Not only that, I also remind my crew and other fishermen to do the same.

We also strictly adhere to the guidelines of the authorities on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing to work together with the government to protect fishing grounds and enrich marine resources.
