It is also the first mixed reality headset developed by a Chinese smartphone maker. The launch marks a milestone in Vivo’s 30-year journey in spatial computing and immersive technology.

The vivo Vision Discovery Edition has a minimalist design and bears many similarities to its direct competitor, the Apple Vision Pro glasses. The device also offers 4 sizes of light-blocking pads and 8 different types of foam pads so users can choose the right fit for their face.

One of the most notable features of this product is its light weight of only 398g, height of 83mm and thickness of 40mm. For comparison, Apple Vision Pro weighs up to 600g. The heavy weight is a factor that many users complain about when using Apple's glasses. Therefore, Vivo's improvement promises to help users wear glasses more comfortably.

The front glass is made transparent to reveal the camera system and sensors. This design also allows users to observe the outside world , while still monitoring the content displayed by the glasses.

vivo says its glasses are equipped with eye tracking technology with an accuracy of 1.5 degrees. At the same time, the device supports 26 degrees of freedom of finger gesture recognition and 175 degrees of vertical tracking, making the operation more natural.

With the modular design, users can also easily change the lenses to suit their eyesight.

The display system uses two Micro-OLED screens, achieving 8K resolution with 94% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and DeltaE<2 color accuracy. The brightness and color difference between the two eyes is also calibrated to minimize eye strain during long-term use.

vivo Vision Discovery Edition integrates the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, providing 2.5x GPU performance and 8x AI performance compared to the previous generation. It allows for immersive video viewing with panoramic views, multi-angle split screen, or creating a 120ft (1,440-inch) virtual screen.

In addition to the built-in battery on the glasses, the device also supports connection to a removable battery to increase battery life.

The glasses are powered by the OriginOS Vision operating system, a custom version of the OriginOS operating system that vivo uses on its smartphones. Information is displayed with icons and windows in the surrounding space, allowing users to interact directly by touching and zooming with their fingers.

Currently, vivo has not announced the price and official launch date of this product. The company also did not reveal whether this product will be sold internationally or only in the domestic market.
