Quang Ninh strongly exploits the luxury customer segment with high spending levels.

In addition to traditional products that have created a brand for Quang Ninh tourism, the province focuses on innovating tourism products towards high quality, strongly exploiting the luxury customer segment.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, in the first 7 months of 2025, the province's destinations, relics and scenic spots welcomed over 14.6 million tourists, an increase of 13% over the same period last year.

Of which, international visitors reached over 2.6 million, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period in 2024, reaching 60% of the full-year growth scenario (4.5 million visitors).

This year, in addition to the traditional products that have created the brand for Quang Ninh tourism , the province focuses on innovating tourism products towards high quality, competitiveness, promoting the advantages of Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, strongly exploiting the luxury customer segment with high spending to increase tourism revenue.

In particular, many high-end product lines have been put into operation, creating a good impression on tourists, especially international tourists, such as: Live show "Finding the pearl" at Vung Duc cave; night cruise on Ha Long Bay; tours to visit Bai Tu Long Bay, tours to explore pristine islands...

In particular, international branded hotel complexes such as Hyatt and InterContinental Ha Long have also welcomed high-end international guests.

Realizing that the international tourist market needs early preparation to increase accessibility, from the beginning of 2024, the Quang Ninh tourism industry has stepped up promotional activities, advertising and stimulating tourism demand, taking advantage of every opportunity to exploit the international market to the fullest.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province and large enterprises in the area organized, welcomed and worked with many Famtrip, Presstrip delegations, KOLs from Korea, Taiwan (China), MICE delegations from India and China to Quang Ninh.

Particularly in traditional markets such as China, the tourism industry has actively organized and participated in working programs in China and Vietnam, with state management agencies of tourism at the provincial, regional and local levels of Guangxi, Yunnan and Chongqing.

At the same time, the industry will vigorously implement the contents of the tourism cooperation agreement signed between Quang Ninh and Guangxi, China, thereby gradually opening the Beihai sea tourism route; road tourism activities through Mong Cai International Border Gate, through the Hoanh Mo-Dong Trung border gate pair.

The excitement of cruise tourism has also brought a large number of international visitors to Quang Ninh. Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has welcomed nearly 40 international cruise ships with nearly 50,000 visitors, an increase of 25% over the same period.

Tourists come from many markets such as the US, Germany, UK, France, Japan, China, etc. In particular, the number of cruise ships coming to Quang Ninh during the summer months this year increased by one and a half times compared to last year.

It is expected that this year, Quang Ninh will welcome about 70 cruise ships, with nearly 90,000 international tourists. The tourism industry is making efforts to attract new cruise tourist markets.

In the context of many fluctuations in the world situation, the international tourist market is also facing many difficulties, affecting spending ability, travel itinerary and demand. The forecast of the international tourist market is still not as expected, especially some traditional markets such as Europe, China...

In addition, competition among regional destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, etc. is increasingly fierce. Climate change is evolving in a complex manner, with extreme and unpredictable weather events negatively impacting production and business and affecting tourism activities.

However, in Quang Ninh, the international tourist market is forecasted to show signs of improvement at the end of the year, focusing on countries such as: Korea, Taiwan (China), India and European visitors. In particular, cruise tourists will have a growth trend of about 15-20% compared to 2024, especially with more MICE tourists and wedding guests in Ha Long.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that to continue connecting the international tourist market for the last months of the year and the following years, the tourism industry will strive to organize tourism promotion programs in China, Taiwan (China), Korea, India, Malaysia, Australia...

Along with that, representatives of the provincial tourism industry worked with shipping lines to turn Quang Ninh into a four-season cruise destination.

The Department also advocates market diversification, reducing dependence on certain markets, limiting risks from regional and global events; searching for, building and developing potential tourist markets; focusing on the needs of target groups to build strategies and develop appropriate tourism products.

The tourism industry has been working directly with travel agencies to attract high-spending billionaires and millionaires to Quang Ninh. This work is being carried out in the direction of “reducing quantity, increasing quality and increasing customer spending”; building specialized tourism programs, dedicating specialized and specific areas to attract this group of customers.

At the same time, the Department participates in and organizes fair programs, introduces and promotes Quang Ninh tourism in key international and domestic markets.

The Department will advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop policies to support attracting tourists to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Airport, and at the same time, organize programs to welcome and work with tourism survey delegations and press to visit and conduct research./.
