The Party newspaper is not simply a means of information but first and foremost a tool for propaganda, education and ideological orientation for cadres, party members and the people. Through profound articles, sharp arguments and scientific criticism, the Party newspaper contributes to clarifying the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and at the same time exposes and refutes erroneous and hostile arguments, contributing to firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid attention to, valued and regularly maintained the habit of reading Party newspapers. In the article “It is necessary to read Party newspapers” published in Nhan Dan newspaper in June 1954, he pointed out that: “Party newspapers are like simple, practical and widespread training courses. They teach us what we need to know about propaganda, organization, leadership and work. Every day it helps to improve our political level and work productivity”. He reminded: “If anyone works hard without reading or studying Party newspapers, it is like walking around with their eyes closed at night…”.
Uncle Ho's advice remains valuable today. Practice shows that cadres and party members who are steadfast in their stance and steadfast in the face of change are those who regularly access and study Party newspapers and magazines. Reading Party newspapers not only helps to grasp current information but also contributes to raising theoretical awareness, strengthening belief in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought and the Party's renewal policy, helping each cadre and party member to apply it correctly in work and life.
However, in some places, reading and studying Party newspapers among cadres and party members has not received due attention. A number of cadres and party members are still indifferent, rarely read Party newspapers, and are sometimes even influenced by unofficial sources of information. This can easily lead to distorted perceptions and a decline in “resistance” in political ideology.
Continuing to affirm the importance of reading Party newspapers and magazines, on April 6, 2020, the Secretariat issued Conclusion Notice No. 173-TB/TW on continuing to implement Directive No. 11-CT/TW of the 8th Politburo, requiring cadres and Party members, especially leaders at all levels, to set an example in reading and studying Party newspapers and magazines.
Continuing to implement that policy, on July 28, 2025, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued Official Letter No. 70-CV/TU on increasing the purchase and reading of Party newspapers and magazines. The Official Letter emphasized the leadership and direction role of Party committees at all levels in thoroughly implementing this task, and at the same time requested to organize inspections, urge and remind people to regularly read Party newspapers and magazines.
In recent years, Party newspapers have made many strong changes to adapt to the digital age. Not only innovating in form and improving the quality of content, newspapers such as Nhan Dan, Quan Doi Nhan Dan, and local newspapers have strongly developed electronic platforms, applied technology, and multimedia to spread official information faster, deeper, and more vividly. Such innovation creates favorable conditions for cadres and party members to access official press anytime, anywhere, no longer limited by the traditional print form.
Currently, social networks are developing strongly, a lot of unverified information is appearing everywhere. Hostile forces are increasing their sabotage activities on the ideological front, trying to sow doubts and distort the Party's policies and guidelines.
Therefore, more than ever, every cadre and party member needs to raise their awareness and proactively read and study Party newspapers as a regular task in ideological work. Party organizations and committees need to step up propaganda, encourage and create conditions for cadres and party members to access and effectively use the Party's press.
Increasingly reading Party newspapers is not only to grasp information but more importantly to be firm in stance, profound in theory, courageous in action and steadfast in perception, creating a "solid wall" against all influences and temptations. That is also the way each cadre and Party member demonstrates their sense of responsibility to the Party and the People, maintains the ideological front, and contributes to the cause of sustainable national development.
