Beware of traps set for job seekers.

VietNamNetVietNamNet10/11/2023

Passing the preliminary selection means joining… a private group.

A good place attracts good people, your place is at VietinBank ”; “Why the rush? Stop by – countless great jobs await” – These are the opening lines of a recruitment announcement for positions such as teller, appraisal specialist, customer service manager, business director, assistant director, etc., on a Facebook page called “Vietinbank Recruitment”.

This page has a profile picture that is the VietinBank logo, and its interface is almost identical to the bank's official fan page, leading many people to mistakenly believe it is VietinBank's official recruitment page.

In addition, there are currently several Facebook pages such as " Vietinbank Recruitment Nationwide", "Vietnam Commercial and Industrial Bank - Vietinbank Recruitment" ... which specialize in posting recruitment advertisements for the bank.

The perpetrators even impersonated the bank's email address, using "tuyendung@vietinbankvn.com" to send invitations for "online preliminary selection" to candidates. After registering for the "online preliminary selection," candidates were invited to join a private Telegram chat group "for easier connection and communication."

VietinBank has confirmed that some job posting websites are fake.

However, VietinBank asserts that all the aforementioned Facebook pages posting recruitment advertisements are fake, created by individuals with the purpose of defrauding candidates, demanding deposit fees, reservation fees, recruitment fees, etc.

VietinBank stated that it has recorded numerous cases where candidates received recruitment information and participated in fraudulent recruitment processes, through which fraudsters carried out malicious acts and ultimately defrauded unsuspecting individuals.

Therefore, the bank advises applicants and customers to be wary of fake VietinBank messages and not to click on any suspicious links in those messages.

The bank also advises applicants and customers to absolutely not submit any money during the recruitment process, and affirms that it does not collect any fees from applicants.

VietinBank confirms that this email is fake.

Similarly, BIDV Bank stated that it is also being exploited by fraudsters who are impersonating recruitment information.

Specifically, recently some malicious groups have been using sophisticated tactics, impersonating the BIDV brand to scam job applicants by requesting them to participate in tasks, pay fees, etc.

The common method used in these scams is for the perpetrators to create fake BIDV documents, falsify signatures, seals, emails, and job postings.

BIDV affirms that recruitment is conducted in accordance with the bank's procedures and regulations. Therefore, candidates wishing to apply for positions at BIDV should note the following points to avoid being scammed or having their assets misappropriated: BIDV does not charge any fees to applicants.

The bank does not require applicants to provide bank account information during the recruitment process; does not require applicants to download or register for any apps; and does not use individual/organizational intermediaries to refer job seekers for a fee.

The bank also advises applicants to only find job postings on the bank's official website or Facebook page, or on the Vietnamworks recruitment website.

BIDV staff do not proactively contact job seekers. Therefore, candidates should be extremely cautious and refuse private messages or interview requests at addresses other than BIDV headquarters. When confirming an interview appointment, double-check the exact address of the headquarters and the interview location.

BIDV also advises candidates not to provide OTP codes, deposit fees, reservation fees, or account passwords to anyone for registration/interview purposes.

Many new scams have emerged.

Besides impersonating bank recruitment agencies, recently scammers have also been impersonating bank officials via Facebook, Zalo, Viber, phone calls, text messages, etc., to entice customers to issue/upgrade credit cards online with attractive offers, with the intention of defrauding them and withdrawing money from their accounts/cards.

In response to this new scam, banks are advising customers to be wary of fake calls/messages impersonating authorities or bank officials inviting them to issue or increase credit card limits or other financial services.

Do not provide personal information, account information, card information, OTP codes, etc., to anyone.

If you suspect fraud or scams, immediately notify the bank via the Customer Service Center hotline. If you are unfortunately scammed or have your assets stolen, report it immediately to the nearest police station.

The end of the year is also a peak time for various forms of fraud and impersonation, especially high-tech crimes. Perpetrators often steal ID card/citizen identification card images and use sophisticated technology to illegally modify information to open bank accounts.

The perpetrators seek out and take control of social media accounts with weak security, or accounts with names matching fake bank accounts, to send fraudulent messages to the victim's relatives and friends, requesting loans/money transfers for fraudulent purposes.

Banks advise customers to protect their personal information, including login names/passwords/PINs/OTPs, etc., when conducting transactions; and to be cautious to avoid disclosing information through social media channels, online payments, etc.

Be cautious and verify the information directly with the social media account owner when receiving messages asking to borrow money or transfer funds.

Implement two-factor authentication on popular social media platforms (Facebook, Zalo, etc.) to protect your social media accounts.
