Angler catches a 15 kg bass.

In Quang Nam province, Mr. Mai Quang Truong, from Tam Anh Bac commune, Nui Thanh district, caught a sea bass over one meter long and weighing 15 kg in the Truong Giang river.

On the evening of September 9th, Mr. Truong, 36 years old, along with two friends, took several fishing rods and live bait including small fish and shrimp to fish on the Truong Giang River in Tam Hoa commune, Nui Thanh district.

Three people were on a local oyster farm raft on the river, fishing with each rod fitted with a bell. At around 5 am on September 10th, Mr. Truong noticed one of the rods shaking and the bell ringing loudly.

He ran over, grabbed his fishing rod, and pulled hard. The fish thrashed about in the distance, sometimes leaping out of the water. It took him 20 minutes to pull it ashore. The fish was over a meter long, with its widest part measuring over 30 cm. Many people offered to buy it, but he refused, taking it home to share with relatives and friends.

This angler has been passionate about fishing for over 5 years and has caught many sea bass, but the largest one weighed about 5kg. "This is the first time I've caught such a big sea bass," Mr. Truong shared.

Sea bass live in both saltwater and freshwater and are found in many parts of the world . In Vietnam, sea bass, also known as grouper, is a popular fish in the market. The fish are typically 30-50 cm long, but some can grow up to 1.8 m. The price of large sea bass is 120,000 VND/kg.
