Phu My Port attracts attention from Korean partners

DNVN - At the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum 2025, Phu My port (Gia Lai) became the focus of attention of the Korean business community, opening up prospects for extensive cooperation in the fields of seaports, logistics and industrial infrastructure development.

Within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Korea, on August 12 in Seoul, the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum took place, bringing together senior leaders of the two countries and more than 400 businesses.

The Gia Lai province investment promotion delegation led by Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang left an impression with a series of strategic cooperation activities.

General Secretary To Lam and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok witnessed businesses exchanging cooperation agreements at the Vietnam - South Korea Economic Forum.

At the event, Phu My Investment Group Joint Stock Company and Eric C&C Company (Korea) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in developing automatic ports, smart logistics solutions and digital infrastructure for Phu My port.

This is a type I deep-water port, capable of receiving ships with a capacity of up to 150,000 tons, and is positioned as the core to promote the formation of an industrial urban area - seaport of Gia Lai. Phu My Port not only serves the import and export of goods of the province but also plays the role of an international trade gateway, connecting the South Central and Central Highlands regions with major markets.

In addition, Viet Phuc Company Limited and Midas Holding Co., Ltd also signed a cooperation agreement to develop fruit preservation systems, agricultural processing facilities, cold logistics chains and expand cooperation in the agricultural value chain.

These projects are complementary to Phu My port in forming a synchronous supply chain, from production, processing to export, applying high technology and international standards.

Continuing investment promotion activities in Korea, on August 13, the Gia Lai province investment promotion delegation worked with the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

BCCI Chairman Yang Jae Sang affirmed that Phu My Port has the potential to become a strategic connection point with Busan Port – one of the largest ports in the world. He said BCCI will act as a bridge between Gia Lai and Korean enterprises in the fields of seaports, logistics, international trade and industrial infrastructure.

“The formation of the Busan – Phu My direct sea transport route is expected to shorten delivery time, reduce logistics costs and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam’s export goods,” the BCCI Chairman affirmed.

BCCI is known as the leading economic organization in Korea with thousands of members, especially interested in investing and developing projects related to Phu My port. With experience and strong financial potential, BCCI member enterprises can participate in many stages, from building port infrastructure, providing logistics services, to cooperating in exploiting international trade and maritime transport.

Gia Lai province investment promotion delegation worked with Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Sharing with BCCI enterprises, Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, said that Phu My port and Phu My industrial park with an area of ​​over 820 hectares will be a "strategic couple" to promote industrial development, renewable energy and high-quality logistics services.

“This is one of Gia Lai’s key projects to exploit geographical advantages, transport infrastructure and inter-regional connectivity, while attracting large-scale investment from domestic and foreign corporations,” the Vice Chairman of Gia Lai province expected.

With strong interest from Korean partners and a clear development orientation of the province, Phu My port is facing a golden opportunity to break through, becoming a bright spot of international cooperation in Gia Lai and a lever for socio-economic growth in the region.

It is known that within the framework of the working trip, the investment promotion delegation of Gia Lai province will continue to work with the Korea Marine Development Corporation (KOBC) and Busan port to promote strategic cooperation opportunities.
