The authorities of the Con Dao Special Administrative Region, Ho Chi Minh City, have issued a warning to tourists about fake fan pages that are scamming people with cheap hotel bookings.

Currently, with the peak of the 2026 summer tourist season underway, the demand for travel to Con Dao is high. Taking advantage of this, many individuals have created fake fan pages impersonating reputable hotels, resorts, and homestays in Con Dao to commit fraud.

The scammers typically copy images and names of hotels, run advertisements, and offer prices significantly lower than the actual value, tricking tourists into booking rooms and transferring deposits. After receiving the deposit, the scammers cut off all contact and block communication.

In response to this situation, local authorities have advised tourists to carefully check and verify information before making deposits based on introductions and advertisements from fan pages, and to prioritize contacting through official channels. They should be particularly wary of unusually low-priced offers.

At the same time, the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Administrative Region also publicly released a list of official accommodation establishments, including contact information, email, and verified fanpage, on the website of the Con Dao Public Service Center at: condao.com.vn.

In addition, the authorities have also announced a hotline number to support, receive information, and accompany tourists during their visit and experiences in Con Dao.
