As of 9:30 AM this morning (March 31st), authorities are still working to control the fire at a scrap metal workshop in Group 33, Hoa Tho Tay Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City. According to residents, the fire broke out around 6:30 AM, when they noticed thick black smoke rising from the workshop.





The fire broke out and quickly spread, engulfing over 2,000 square meters of the factory building containing many flammable materials such as plastic and paper, creating a column of black smoke dozens of meters high that could be seen from many areas in the surrounding districts. Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force of Da Nang City Police immediately dispatched 8 fire trucks and nearly 100 people to extinguish the fire.
At the scene, police officers divided into several groups to break through the corrugated iron fence surrounding the factory in order to spray water and extinguish the fire. By approximately 8:40 AM the same day, the fire was largely under control. The fire caused some of the factory's corrugated iron roofs to collapse, and the items inside were destroyed.
The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are currently being investigated.
