Former Manchester United legend Owen Hargreaves has heaped praise on his former teammate Carrick after witnessing the Red Devils' positive results in recent months.

Commenting on TNT Sports , Hargreaves argued that the changes under Carrick had disrupted everything Ruben Amorim had built up previously, in a way that benefited Manchester United.

According to Hargreaves, Carrick simplified things at MU by bringing midfielder Bruno Fernandes back to his preferred "number 10" role, switching the system from three central defenders to a traditional central defensive pairing, and positioning the wingers correctly.

"It's not about complex scientific analysis, just putting players in the right positions," Hargreaves commented.

Carrick was appointed to manage Manchester United until the end of the season and immediately made a strong impression with a run of four consecutive wins before being held to a 1-1 draw away at West Ham. However, this result was still enough to help the "Red Devils" climb to fourth place in the Premier League table, thus returning to the race for a Champions League spot next season.

According to Hargreaves, one of the biggest highlights in Carrick's transformation of Manchester United was giving opportunities to young talent Kobbie Mainoo. The 20-year-old midfielder quickly became a key player in the midfield, forming an effective partnership with Casemiro.

Mainoo has impressed with 255 successful passes, 10 tackles, and 263 instances of pressing since mid-January. He even played outstandingly in big matches against Man City and Arsenal, demonstrating remarkable maturity.

Manchester United's positive changes were quickly recognized when Carrick was named Premier League Manager of the Month for January. According to experts, the most important thing the 44-year-old strategist brought was stability to the tactical system, giving his players more confidence in the system.
