(PLVN) - On the morning of June 11th, according to an announcement from Brigade 249, the Engineering Corps had to urgently cut the Phong Chau pontoon bridge because the flow velocity of the Red River at the bridge location exceeded 3 m/s.

According to Colonel Tran Van Tuan, the emergency bridge closure was planned and coordinated with relevant authorities in Phu Tho province.

Vehicles are temporarily unable to cross the Phong Chau pontoon bridge, and the bridge has been cut to ensure the safety of the unit's equipment and vehicles using it.

"It is expected that when the water flow velocity drops below 3m/s, the unit will operate the ferry to transport people across the river, and when the flow velocity drops below 2m/s, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge will be reconnected," the commander of Brigade 249 informed.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the water level on the Red River in Phu Tho has increased by nearly 1 meter in the past three days (June 8-11) and is currently reaching a short-term peak of 13.6 meters, continuing to change slowly.
