Andre Onana caused internal tension at Manchester United after the 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals on April 11th.

Onana was dropped from the squad after his mistake against Lyon.

Before the match, Onana boldly declared that "Manchester United were completely superior" to Lyon. This statement caused a stir and ignited a verbal clash with Nemanja Matic, the former Manchester United midfielder now playing for Lyon. However, what unfolded on the pitch was a slap in the face for the Cameroonian goalkeeper, as he made direct errors leading to both goals conceded.

According to sources within Old Trafford who spoke to The Sun , Manchester United players are not hiding their anger: "Some players are really angry with Onana. He brought trouble upon himself with his arrogant statements, and then became a laughing stock when he couldn't prove it on the pitch. Many believe it's time to give Altay Bayindir a chance."

On the afternoon of April 13th, British media outlets unanimously confirmed that manager Ruben Amorim had dropped Onana from the starting lineup for the match against Newcastle United in the 32nd round of the Premier League. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper did not even travel with his teammates to St. James' Park.

Altay Bayindir replaced Onana. The Turkish goalkeeper hasn't had a chance to play in big matches. Furthermore, Onana risks losing his place in the Europa League second leg – a turning point that could jeopardize his position for the rest of the season.

Two silly mistakes by Onana led to MU being held to a draw. In the early hours of April 11th, MU drew 2-2 with Lyon away from home in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
