Late on July 9th ( Hanoi time), Linda Yaccarino announced on X that she was no longer the CEO of the platform. "After two incredible years, I have decided to resign as CEO of X," she began her farewell post.

Without specifying the reason for her departure, the former leader said she felt proud of what she and her team had accomplished during her time there. Achievements cited by Ms. Yaccarino included prioritizing user safety, regaining advertiser trust, and creating Community Notes and X Money.

The CEO's departure comes months after Elon Musk sold X to xAI, his artificial intelligence company. This merges two closely linked entities, both assets of the billionaire. However, it leaves Linda Yaccarino's future uncertain as her role remains unclear.

Ms. Yaccarino previously served as Chief Marketing Officer at NBCUniversal. The CEO took over the position in June 2023, when the company was still called Twitter. She was brought in to address the platform's declining advertising business, which had alienated many companies.

During this period, X achieved considerable success. Their concurrent user numbers gradually recovered, peaking on the 2024 US presidential election. Revenue also stabilized as the platform cleaned up fake news and fraudulent accounts. However, Yaccarino's role remained unclear, as Elon Musk remained a social media icon, actively involved in the platform.

CNN suggests that Yaccarino's departure coincides with complex developments within Musk's businesses. His deep involvement in politics has negatively impacted Tesla, and his ability to lead multiple companies simultaneously has been questioned. Prior to Yaccarino, Tesla's Chief Manufacturing and Operations Officer, Omead Afshar, also resigned.
