Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg has criticized rival Apple for its long-standing lack of innovation.

Specifically, during a nearly three-hour conversation on the Joe Rogan Podcast, the Facebook CEO admitted: "The iPhone is probably one of the most important inventions of all time."

However, he pointed out the harsh reality stemming from the declining sales trend of this product line, evidence that consumers are increasingly hesitant to upgrade to new iPhone products.

"They (Apple) haven't created anything truly groundbreaking for a long time. Steve Jobs invented the iPhone, and they just sat on that success for the next 20 years," Zuckerberg shared.

Besides the lack of innovation, Mark also criticized Apple for "exploiting" users and partners by charging developers a commission of up to 30%.

In addition, Zuckerberg expressed dissatisfaction with Apple's approach to making it difficult for third parties to access iPhone devices. "They launch superior AirPod products. However, they restrict other parties from developing products with similar compatibility," he said.

Zuckerberg recalled being furious when his Ray-Ban Meta Advanced Smart Glasses, a product he had poured so much effort into, had difficulty connecting to the iPhone.

He accused Apple of "favoring" its accessories, allowing them to connect easily to the device, while leaving competitors struggling "in the dark" regarding connection mechanisms.

On the podcast, Zuckerberg also shared his thoughts on the nature of the tech industry.

"The good thing about the technology sector is its dynamism, with innovations constantly emerging. I believe that if a business doesn't have anything outstanding for about 10 years, it will eventually be beaten by a competitor," he said.

Apple has not yet responded to the statements made by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg.
