Recently, Military Hospital 109 (Military Region 2) organized a program to provide free medical examinations, health consultations, medication, and gifts to policy beneficiaries, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances in Hoa Son town (Lap Thach district).
The program is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and to carry out social welfare work.
During the medical examination process, doctors and nurses enthusiastically advised patients on their health conditions and disseminated knowledge on proactive health care and protection to help people effectively prevent common diseases. The hospital also presented 10 gifts and provided free medicine to nearly 300 beneficiaries, including policy beneficiaries, poor households, and families in difficult circumstances.
Mr. Vu Duc Do, a disabled veteran classified as 4/4, residing in Quang Khuon residential area, Hoa Son town, shared: “Being old and weak, and suffering from high blood pressure, I am deeply moved to receive examinations and medication through my health insurance card. This time, doctors from Military Hospital 109 came right to my home to examine me, saving me the trouble of traveling long distances.”
Colonel Nguyen Huy Hoang, an outstanding physician, Specialist Doctor Level 2, and Director of Military Hospital 109, stated: “For many years, the hospital has consistently performed well in providing healthcare for war veterans and those who have rendered meritorious service to the nation. On average, each year the hospital provides medical examinations, consultations, and hundreds of free gifts to families of policy beneficiaries and those who have rendered meritorious service to the revolution.”
Focusing on disadvantaged localities with a large number of beneficiaries of social policies, and often organizing events in conjunction with major national and military holidays.
With a practical approach focused on the grassroots, the hospital sends highly qualified and experienced medical staff, doctors, and nurses directly to local areas to examine and provide health advice to the general public, and especially to war veterans, in order to continue showing gratitude to those who have dedicated their youth, health, and lives to the homeland and to demonstrate a sense of responsibility to the community.
In addition to caring for those who have rendered meritorious service, Vinh Phuc also pays special attention to the rehabilitation and health recovery of policy beneficiaries and those who have rendered meritorious service to the revolution.
Over the years, the Tam Dao Center for the Care of War Veterans has become a "second home" for tens of thousands of people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution. In 2024, the center welcomed and cared for more than 1,400 war veterans from within the province and more than 300 war veterans from Ha Nam province.
In addition to healthcare programs and nursing care at the center, war veterans also participate in cultural and artistic activities, read books and newspapers, watch historical documentaries, play sports, and visit historical sites such as K9 - Da Chong...
These activities and trips not only serve as relaxation and rejuvenation but also provide an opportunity for those who have made contributions to the nation to reflect on the glorious traditions, and to further inspire and spread patriotism and national spirit.
Nguyen Hong Minh, Director of the Tam Dao Center for the Care of War Veterans, shared: “During the resistance wars, soldiers bravely fought to win independence and freedom for the nation, preserving the homeland. Therefore, more than ever, they need to be cared for both physically and mentally.”
The center's staff, doctors, and nurses always provide the best care for policy beneficiaries and those who have rendered meritorious service, expressing gratitude to those who have dedicated themselves and readily sacrificed their youth and lives for their homeland and country.
Providing healthcare for those who have rendered meritorious service is not only the responsibility of the Party, the State, and all levels of government, but also a profound expression of gratitude and the moral principle of remembering one's roots, deeply ingrained in the consciousness of every Vietnamese person.
This is also a journey of preserving memories, preserving the beautiful values of history, so that present and future generations understand that the independence, freedom, and happiness we enjoy are the result of the blood, sweat, and lives of countless generations before us.
Through concrete, practical, and humane actions, Vinh Phuc is writing a touching story of gratitude day by day, ensuring that the flame of patriotism continues to burn brightly in the heart of its homeland.
