Young photographer Nguyen Tan Phat.

In 2010, with a raffle ticket included with a special Spring issue of Mực Tím magazine, Nguyễn Tấn Phát won a Samsung ST500 camera. This lucky gift was the catalyst that led him to photography, and his love for this art form of light grew stronger. With its front-facing secondary screen, this first camera brought him much joy, making it easy for him to take selfies and capture images of life around him.

In early 2022, when his favorite camera became unusable, he decided to invest in more modern equipment: buying a new camera with versatile lenses and diligently learning how to take better photos, although it was still just for fun. Later, thanks to connecting with an older brother who shared his passion for photography and received dedicated guidance, Nguyen Tan Phat gradually progressed, gaining more knowledge and experience, improving his photography skills, and beginning to create and submit his photos to many competitions both within and outside the province.

His favorite subjects and creative inspirations are bridges, roads, and religious architecture, especially in the Mekong Delta region where he lives. Additionally, he enjoys photographing during prime time (golden or green hours) at locations easily accessible after work.

When photographing religious architecture , the young photographer often explores many different angles. At churches, he chooses the tall bell tower as a focal point for the composition or aims to capture the colorful beauty of Khmer temples at night, with the shimmering lights further highlighting the exquisite carvings ("Cathedral in the early morning sun", "Cai Mon Parish Church", "Kinh Xang Church", "Phu Quoi Parish Church", "An Dien Church", "Chua Giua Pagoda in Tra Vinh ", "Khmer Hoa Luc Pagoda", "Som Rong Pagoda"...).

"The Cathedral in the Early Morning Sunlight" is his favorite work, because it perfectly captured his favorite subject – the one he wanted to photograph – and coincided with the ideal time: with the setting sun and a layer of mist... This work was recently selected for exhibition at the 6th Young Photographers Festival in 2025.

With his photographs of bridges and roads, he has many outstanding works: "The Shadow of My Thuan Bridge", "A Corner of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge", "Sunset at Tran Hoang Na Bridge", "Cloud Hunting at Vam Cong Bridge", "Crossing the Alluvial Plain"...

In other subjects, he also made a beautiful impression with: the lotus of Thap Muoi, the trumpet flower season in the Mekong Delta, the legendary palm trees during the flood season in An Giang , the bull race at Chua Ro, Vi Thanh market, the flamboyant flower road in Lap Vo, the A50 National Concept, the sunrise at Ba Dong wind farm, the river in his hometown - Con Chim, Nga Bay...

Besides his main job at the hospital and time spent with his family, he takes advantage of his days off to relax with photography, considering it a form of mental relaxation, entertainment, and motivation to work better. With his youthful energy, progressive spirit, and love for photography, we wish him continued success in his future endeavors, with even more beautiful works created.
