At Le Loi Primary School, the program " Celebrating Chol Chnam Thmay Festival - Preserving Identity, Sharing Love" took place vibrantly with many cultural performances showcasing the Khmer ethnic identity, such as Romvong dance, folk songs, traditional costume displays, monkey dance, and demon dance…
In addition, there are activities to raise awareness about the origins and significance of the traditional Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year, helping students who are children of the Khmer ethnic minority to understand and be more proud of their ethnic culture.
Students from Le Loi Primary School performed monkey dances and demon dances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Khmer ethnic group.
The highlight of the program is the "Colors of Khmer Childhood" competition, creating a platform for students to showcase their talents, confidence, and love for traditional culture.
Teachers and students harmonized, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year festival.
Besides cultural activities, the school also presented many gifts to students from disadvantaged backgrounds on this occasion. Previously, through surveys conducted with homeroom teachers, the classes proactively supported poor students, helping them have a warmer Tet holiday.
Mr. Truong Luong, Deputy Principal of Le Loi Primary School, said: "More than 70% of the school's students are children of ethnic minorities, mainly Khmer people. Every year, the school organizes activities to celebrate the Chol Chnam Thmay New Year to educate about traditions, strengthen solidarity among ethnic groups, and motivate disadvantaged students to excel in their studies."
Representatives from Hiep Thanh Ward Youth Union and the Parent-Teacher Association of Le Loi Primary School presented gifts to underprivileged students to celebrate the Chol Chnam Thmay New Year.
On the same day, to celebrate the Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year, Nguyen Hue Secondary School awarded 20 scholarships (500,000 VND each) to disadvantaged Khmer ethnic students.
Although the gifts are not of great monetary value, they serve as encouragement, helping the children to have more confidence and strive harder in their studies in the new year.
Mr. Ho Van Khanh, Vice Principal of Nguyen Hue Secondary School, awarded 20 scholarships to disadvantaged Khmer ethnic minority students.
Through practical activities, organizing the Chôl Chnăm Thmây festival in schools not only contributes to preserving and spreading the cultural values of the Khmer people, but also fosters a spirit of solidarity and mutual support, creating more motivation for students to excel in their studies and lives.
