"Give wings" to Thai Nguyen tourism

Instead of waiting for visitors to come, Thai Nguyen has brought its tourism products to provinces and cities across the country to invite cooperation; not only creating new tourism products, but also opening up opportunities for rapid, strong, and sustainable development of the tourism industry... This is how Thai Nguyen province "gives wings" for the tourism industry to fly higher and further.

In 2024, the tourism industry of Thai Nguyen province has reaped many "sweet fruits", with the total number of tourists reaching over 3,485,000, an increase of 39.5% compared to 2023; tourism revenue reached over 3,089 billion VND, an increase of 44.1%.

This is a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of the province's tourism promotion and branding activities in recent years. In 2024 alone, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - the standing agency of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee - coordinated with 15 provinces and cities nationwide to organize conferences to discuss and find solutions for tourism development cooperation.

With the enthusiasm of "bringing the bell to strike the land of others", the members of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee have taken advantage of space and time to promote the potential and strengths of Thai Nguyen tourism to friends. With more than 1,000 historical and cultural relics; more than 550 intangible cultural heritages; 11 destinations recognized by the Provincial People's Committee; nearly 300 craft villages; more than 230 OCOP products from 3-5 stars and 4 main tourism product lines associated with tea culture including: Cultural, spiritual, historical, and origin tourism; Eco-tourism, resort tourism; Community and rural tourism; MICE tourism, sports, and adventure cave exploration.

Through the presentation of video clips and the distribution of leaflets, brochures, tourist maps; displaying images introducing landscapes, people, customs, and traditional products... many tourism businessmen in provinces and cities were "startled" to realize a completely different Thai Nguyen compared to a few years ago.

Many people say: We know Thai Nguyen has Nui Coc Lake; Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures and Tan Cuong tea. But now we know Thai Nguyen is an ideal destination, with many destinations and rich service activities, where you can visit, relax, and experience the land that poet To Huu wrote about more than 70 years ago: "Green mountains, blue water, freely roaming".

Seminars on tourism cooperation and development organized by Thai Nguyen in provinces and cities across the country attracted more than 600 delegates, including leaders of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Vietnam Tourism Association, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Tourism, Tourism Associations of provinces and cities, and businessmen operating in the tourism sector.

In particular, more than 300 representatives of travel agencies, 200 representatives of accommodation establishments and 47 press agencies participated in promoting the Thai Nguyen series of activities "Bringing bells to strike foreign lands". Contributing to promoting the province's tourism brand to spread and fly far and wide to the people, domestic and international tourists.

The series of seminars has connected the Thai Nguyen Provincial Tourism Association and other provinces and cities to sign and commit to sharing experiences in tourism, training tourism human resources, investing in tourism development and introducing and sharing tourists through newly opened tours and routes between tourist areas and destinations inside and outside the province.

Representatives of the tourism industry from provinces and cities: Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh... came to Thai Nguyen to survey and directly sign cooperation agreements with tourism areas, destinations and businesses of the province.

Thanks to that, the number of tourists coming to Thai Nguyen increased sharply during holidays and weekends. At the peak time, such as September 2, in just 4 days of this holiday, the province welcomed more than 200,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 30% compared to the same period in 2023. The average room occupancy rate reached 50%. Some hotels, motels in Thai Nguyen City and tourist attractions with accommodation services achieved room occupancy rates of 80-100%.

Along with “bringing the bell to strike the land of others”, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen actively organized tourism promotion activities right in the province. During the year, the Department organized Famtrip; Famtrip - Presstrip programs to experience areas and destinations. Each program attracted nearly 100 participants, who were representatives of tourism management agencies and tourism businesses from provinces and cities across the country.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also published 1,000 photo books with the theme "Experience the land of Tea, rich in identity"; 40,000 brochures introducing tourist attractions in the area; designed and printed 2 brochures introducing and promoting tourism "Thai Nguyen preserves national cultural identity associated with tourism development"; "Preserving and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage of Thai Nguyen province".

The Thai Nguyen tourism photo contest with the theme "Experience the land of Tea, imbued with identity", the "Quintessence of Thai Nguyen Tea Land Cuisine" Festival was successfully held, attracting hundreds of artists and artisans to participate...

From being flexible and innovative in promoting, advertising the image and building and improving the quality of the brand, the provincial tourism industry seems to have “added wings”, creating an attractiveness to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists to Thai Nguyen. From there, it contributes significantly to the successful implementation of the goal of developing tourism into an important economic sector of the province.
