The mark of time and art

Going back in time, the First International Tea Festival in 2011 is considered a significant milestone marking the strong development of tea cultivation in Thai Nguyen province. Many tea-related products were created, including the Tan Cuong Tea Culture Space, one of the products of the International Tea Festival. Built on an area of 2.6 hectares, the space comprises three main architectural areas: a reception area; an exhibition area for artifacts; and an area for introducing tea culture and products.

The Tea Culture Space boasts a unique architectural design with an open layout. Each element of the structure bears the mark of time and art. In front of the building is a spacious courtyard where the local community can organize festivals, welcome guests, and promote tourism . Inside the exhibition hall is a miniature museum depicting the complete story of the tea plant, the stages of planting, caring for, and processing tea by the farmers.

From the spacious courtyard, visitors can get a panoramic view of the entire architectural landscape of the space. And from the two wings, on the left, is a large, monolithic stone slab carved with the words "Tan Cuong Tea Culture Space." This not only introduces a destination but also serves as a firm affirmation of a region rich in tea culture.

On the left is a fountain stylized into a giant tea set. The tray holding the tea set is stylized into a large tea leaf. Water is poured from the teapot into the large cups like a clear spring, reflecting the enduring beauty of the tea culture intertwined with the lives of the people.

Upon entering the reception hall, visitors are surprised to see a large, naturally carved teapot made from driftwood, so big it would take several people to encircle it, reaching almost to the "roof of the house." Further inside are areas preserving and displaying various documents and artifacts introducing the history and development of tea and tea culture. Visitors can directly admire images showcasing the tea-growing regions of Thai Nguyen, agricultural tools such as palm leaf-made stoves, cast-iron tea roasting pans, tea roasting machines, and tea packaging machines…

The stages of tea processing technology, from simple to modern, are displayed here. Then, standing before tea sets dating back hundreds of years, with their diverse shapes and intricate carvings reflecting the class of their users, one can truly appreciate the knowledge and refined taste of tea that our ancestors possessed. Continuing to the upper floor of the Tea Culture Space, visitors will find a wide variety of tea products on display, promoting them to the public and tourists.

"A myriad of colors and varieties" offer a delightful selection of tea products, including teas from the "Four Great Famous Teas of Thai Nguyen": Tan Cuong, Dong Hy, Vo Tranh, and La Bang. Market mechanisms have transformed the mindset and perceptions of farmers. To foster stronger development, tea-growing households in the region have forged close linkages throughout the entire process, from planting and cultivation to harvesting, processing, and marketing.

This linkage forms a closed chain, all aimed at improving product quality and building a strong brand. Many tea products from the "Land of the Most Famous Tea" are sold for over 10 million VND/kg. Besides domestic consumption, the tea is also exported to markets in the Middle East, some Asian countries, and Eastern Europe.

The Tan Cuong Tea Culture Space encompasses a long historical period. Each artifact tells a long story, fully depicting the journey of our ancestors who brought tea plants from Phu Tho, the ancestral land, to this region. It also portrays the production, processing, and the renowned Canh Hac tea product that has brought fame to the area. People throughout the country fondly remember Thai Nguyen because of its tea.

Therefore, visitors from all over the world, upon arriving at the Tea Culture Space, after exploring and learning about the tea plants and people of Thai Nguyen, feel a sense of closeness. Raising a cup of fragrant tea and enjoying a peanut candy flavored with tea, they feel delighted to have tasted authentic Thai Nguyen tea.

The tea served in the "Land of the Most Famous Tea" is quite different from tea served in other regions. Because tea making is a craft passed down through generations, each tea maker is considered an artisan. Even the way tea is brewed is an art.

Enjoying tea, listening to stories about the famous Tan Cuong tea region; stories about the centuries-old Shan Tuyet tea plantations in the upper reaches of the Cau River, honored as Vietnamese Heritage Trees; and stories about the centuries-old Mong Rong tea cluster on the slopes of Tam Dao mountain.

It's even more refreshing to know that Thai Nguyen province has tea products ranked among the TOP 100 Vietnamese specialty gifts. Furthermore, the "Knowledge of Growing and Processing Tan Cuong Tea" has been inscribed on the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The uniqueness of the Tea Culture Space has become a major attraction for tourists. After 15 years of operation (2011-2025), this space has welcomed nearly 200,000 domestic and international visitors who came to explore, experience, enjoy tea, and learn about the history and culture associated with Thai Nguyen tea.

These figures not only demonstrate the appeal of a destination rich in unique characteristics, but also affirm the role of the Tea Culture Space in preserving and spreading the value of traditional tea culture. In 2025 alone, nearly 17,000 visitors came to tour and study, contributing to bringing the image of "the finest tea" closer to friends both domestically and internationally.
