Recently, the "Run For Millions" event concluded with impressive numbers: 16,462 people participated and 2,650,893 km were run, equivalent to 66 trips around the Earth, or 3 round trips to the Moon.
This is the first online event aimed at raising awareness and encouraging people to show their support for ending the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam.
With the message "Every step is a hope," the event is completely free, and participants can choose to run or walk distances of 42km, 60km, 100km, 150km, and 200km over a period of 6 months.
Each individual's running or walking progress will be recorded after each completion and accumulated over the 6 months of the race.
Ms. Phan Thanh Dung, Campaign Officer for Southeast Asia at FOUR PAWS, shared: “We are very grateful for everyone's contributions to the event. I hope everyone will continue to support FOUR PAWS in future events and campaigns, for a Vietnam that says no to the dog and cat meat trade!”
The impressive numbers achieved from the online event "Run for Millions" once again demonstrate the increasing public awareness of animal welfare and the widespread support from all sectors of society for ending the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam.
Previously, from December 2021 to July 2022, FOUR PAWS launched the "This is not Vietnam" campaign to call for Vietnamese people's opposition to the dog and cat meat trade.
The campaign attracted over 33,000 people who sent messages to the Deputy Prime Minister, 24,000 international tourists who sent letters to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and 13,500 people worldwide who sent digital postcards to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, urging an end to the cruel trade .
