The construction project is parallel to and replaces the existing Vam Sat 1 Bridge, which is overloaded, dilapidated, and no longer meets traffic requirements.
City leaders cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Vam Sat 2 bridge.
Mr. Nguyen Vinh Ninh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works, the project's investor, stated that the Vam Sat 2 Bridge Construction Project has a total investment of 343 billion VND. The bridge is 1,080m long, including a 434m bridge section and a 646m approach road section, with a 10m cross-section.
Upon completion, the project will ensure traffic flow, connecting Ly Nhon commune with other localities, creating a foundation for socio-economic development, tourism, and transportation connectivity for Ly Nhon commune in particular, and contributing to the completion of the transportation infrastructure system for Can Gio district in general.

The Vam Sat 2 bridge construction project was started by the investor in March 2018. However, due to the lack of land allocation, construction had to be temporarily suspended from December 2019 to October 2022.
At this time, the People's Committee of Can Gio District, the Compensation and Land Clearance Board of Can Gio District, and the entire political system of the district have resolutely intervened, with the support and cooperation of the investor and construction units, resolving obstacles, listening to and mobilizing the people. As a result, 100% of the land has been handed over to the investor to continue construction.
Residents who ceded land for the project received awards.
"We hope that the joy and confidence from the recent construction of the Long Kieng Bridge and the Vam Sat 2 Bridge today will be replicated and spread to other transportation projects awaiting land handover, such as the Long Bridge in Thu Duc, the Ba Hom Bridge in Binh Tan, and other routes like Tan Ky Tan Quy, Luong Dinh Cua, Duong Quang Ham, Provincial Road 8, and several other transportation projects… so that we can continue to have projects completed ahead of schedule after 100% of the land is handed over in the near future," Mr. Ninh said.
The Vam Sat 1 bridge, which runs parallel to the Vam Sat 2 bridge, is in a state of disrepair.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Gio District, expressed his joy at the opening of the Vam Sat 2 bridge to traffic.
Eager to be present at the bridge's opening ceremony early, 84-year-old Mrs. Ly Thi Dang from Ly Nhon commune said that her house had been relocated to make way for the project. Witnessing the newly built bridge, which will make travel easier and safer for her children and grandchildren, she was very happy.
According to him, the new bridge, located parallel to the dilapidated Vam Sat 1 bridge, will help to effectively utilize the Ly Nhon road axis, connecting traffic in Ly Nhon commune with the center of Can Gio district and the center of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to socio-economic development for the people of Ly Nhon commune in particular and Can Gio district in general.
"We are deeply grateful to the households that have agreed and shared the land for the project to pass through. Especially the 24 households directly affected. We will work together with the investor to utilize and maximize the effectiveness of this project," Mr. Hong said.
