MediaTek is expected to use TSMC's 3nm M3E node first with the Dimensity 9400, which should deliver 30% better power efficiency than the previous generation. As such, phones powered by this SoC should have better battery life.

The Dimensity 9400 chip will feature an octa-core CPU setup, including one high-performance Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.63 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores clocked at 2.80 GHz for extra power, and four Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.10 GHz for everyday tasks.

Compared to its predecessor SoC, the Dimensity 9400 chip has a noticeable increase in clock speed (the main core has a clock speed increase from 3.25 GHz to 3.63 GHz).

On the GPU side, the Dimensity 9400 chip will be part of the Immortalis G9xx series and is expected to deliver 110fps - an 11.1% improvement over the previous generation's 99fps.

Currently, the Dimensity 9400 chip has some direct competitors such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (maximum clock speed of 4.32 GHz) and Apple's A18 chip (expected clock speed of 4.40 GHz).
