MediaTek is expected to use TSMC's 3nm M3E node first with the Dimensity 9400, which will bring 30% better power efficiency than the previous generation. As such, any phone using this SoC will have better battery life.

The Dimensity 9400 chip will feature an octa-core CPU setup, consisting of one high-performance Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.63 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.80 GHz for extra power, and four Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.10 GHz for everyday tasks.

Compared to its predecessor SoC, the Dimensity 9400 chip has a noticeable increase in clock speed (the main core has a clock increase from 3.25 GHz to 3.63 GHz).

In terms of GPU, the Dimensity 9400 chip will be part of the Immortalis G9xx series and is expected to deliver 110fps - an 11.1% improvement over the previous generation's 99fps.

Currently, the Dimensity 9400 chip has some direct competitors such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (maximum clock speed of 4.32 GHz) and Apple's A18 chip (expected clock speed of 4.40 GHz).
