- Thanks to the determination of the investor and contractor, the Chi Lang Market project in Lang Son City is progressing ahead of schedule. The units involved are also striving to complete the project two months ahead of schedule.
The Chi Lang Market project aims to create a modern and integrated commercial infrastructure in Lang Son city, contributing to the urban landscape and contributing to the development of Lang Son city as a tourist city with a vibrant night-time economy . The construction of the new market also addresses the residents' desire to renovate and upgrade the old market, which has been dilapidated for many years. The project is invested in by Lang Son Market Joint Stock Company with a total investment of 22.7 billion VND.
According to the approved design, the project includes items such as: 7 rows of kiosks accommodating approximately 140 businesses; an outdoor sales area for 60 businesses; a road system within the market; water supply and drainage infrastructure; and fire prevention and fighting infrastructure... The project implementation period is from November 2024 to the end of October 2025.
Mr. Vy Tien Thanh, Director of the Chi Lang Market Project Management Board, Lang Son Market Joint Stock Company, said: From October 2024, right from the start of the project's construction procedures, the unit has informed 100% of the business households (approximately 150 households) about the project's goals and significance. At the same time, surveys were conducted to gather opinions from households regarding relocation to the temporary market for the construction of the new market. As a result, 100% of the households expressed strong agreement because the construction of a new market has been a long-awaited aspiration of the households due to the severely dilapidated infrastructure of the old market.
With strong consensus from the business owners, the Chi Lang Market Project Management Board has been urgently completing the necessary procedures to finalize the construction of the temporary market on Quang Trung Street, Chi Lang Ward. With a sense of urgency, the temporary market was completed by November 2024. Immediately afterwards, all business owners completed their relocation to the temporary market, and the unit handed over 100% of the cleared land area, totaling over 3,700 square meters, to the contractor. Based on this, the project commenced in early December 2024. Simultaneously, the investor requested the contractor to expedite the construction of the project components to ensure timely completion.
In response to the investor's request, the contractor, Viettel Construction Branch in Lang Son, Viettel Construction Corporation, mobilized maximum manpower and equipment to simultaneously implement all items. Accordingly, the unit mobilized over 80 workers and numerous machines to carry out the various tasks, especially excavation and foundation work. For painting and tiling the kiosks, the unit mobilized an additional 30 workers to ensure progress. Simultaneously, the contractor closely coordinated with the consulting unit to create weekly and monthly progress tracking schedules to develop construction plans suitable to the actual conditions.
Mr. Ngo Ngoc Tu, Head of Viettel Lang Son Construction Branch and Project Commander, stated: "The biggest challenge for our unit is that the project is being implemented in a residential area, affecting the transportation of materials and the movement of machinery. To overcome this difficulty, the team of engineers, supervisors, and project managers must be present 24/7 at the construction site to ensure that construction proceeds safely and does not affect traffic or residents."
According to the contractor's representative, from the end of April 2025 to the present, the area has frequently experienced heavy rains causing localized flooding. Therefore, the unit has implemented many solutions to overcome this, such as: designing and clearing the drainage system, connecting the drainage system to the city's general system; flexibly organizing construction teams between outdoor and indoor items; and increasing night shifts to compensate for delays caused by rain.
Thanks to the proactive efforts of the contractors, after six months of construction, the Chi Lang Market project has completed approximately 80% of the work. Specifically: Kiosks 1, 4, 5, and 6 have completed 100% of the interior plastering, 50% of the exterior plastering, and are currently undergoing finishing painting, gypsum ceiling installation, tiling, and roller shutter door installation; the administration building has completed 100% of the rough construction; the underground water tank and wastewater treatment tank are 100% complete, and the drainage system is approximately 50% complete... The contractor is striving to complete the entire project before August 30, 2025, to hand it over to the investor for operation and use, about two months ahead of schedule.
The implementation of the Chi Lang Market project is not only one of the steps to develop the city's commercial and urban infrastructure, but also stems from the actual needs and desires of the local people. With the current progress, it is believed that the project will be completed ahead of schedule, thereby contributing to boosting the economy and trade in the area.
