(NLĐO) - Nearly 1.7 million students in Ho Chi Minh City will have their Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025.
The Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students and teachers in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 is outlined in Decision 3089/2024 of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on the issuance of the 2024-2025 school year timetable for preschool education , general education, and continuing education in the city.
Accordingly, the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 for 1.7 million preschool, primary, secondary, and high school students is expected to begin on January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) and end on February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month). Thus, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.
Compared to last year, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have 14-16 days off for Tet. Specifically, for the 2024 Lunar New Year, students will be off from February 5th, 2024 (26th day of the 12th lunar month) until February 18th, 2024 (9th day of the 1st lunar month).
Nearly 1.7 million students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a 9-day Lunar New Year holiday.
According to regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for monitoring and directing all levels and branches of education to strictly implement the 2024-2025 school year schedule; deciding to allow students to take time off from school when the weather is too harsh or due to natural disasters, and arranging for students to make up missed classes; and arranging time off for teachers during the school year.
Furthermore, according to regulations of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, if a public holiday stipulated by the Labor Law falls on a weekend, employees will be given a compensatory day off on the following working day. School principals should proactively develop appropriate educational plans for their respective institutions in accordance with regulations.
Previously, in September 2024, the Ministry of Interior agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to have a 9-day consecutive Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 (Year of the Snake) from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025.
